PC Water Bases - A thing of the past?

So, my friends and I were wondering if water bases are even worth trying. But if Zombies can't drown or even get slowed down in water, what'd be the point of even building a water base on stilts?

Thoughts?

 
I still do this in emergencies - as I have in my latest game.

Clarification: A tower within water that 'peaks out'. At times I'll swim out while underwater - shooting as I go. This can help with mitigating the vultures. As normal kill cops ASAP! In extreme emergencies you can dive into pools lol

My buddy and I tried last night to see if a normal Zombie slows down in water......which was a big nope. lol It walked and jumped normally which is pretty stupid!

Walked yes, jumps normally - yes.

The water has to be chest high so two block high water will slow everything down and you won't be able to jump out. My two friends and I built a base with a moat around it with two block high water. Turrets pointing down.. During blood moon, every zombie slowed to a walk. It was awesome.
