PC Very bad Random Gen

Well the whole purpose of experimental is to experiment, try different things, find new bugs and fix them.

 
Skyscrapers are a known bug, and the generation was an intended decision... Tin has a mixer file that solves that.

I think they chose wisely.

Dont take this the wrong way but what you are saying here is that the entire team at TFP know this is broken and cant fix it or cant be arsed to fix it but hey! Tin fixed it by himself in a couple of days so just use his mod.

Do you realise how insulting that statement is? and further how badly it reflects on the dev team?? not having a go at you mate but think about that statement from a customer perspective, its like Apple saying hey we know a major feature of our phones does not work but just go to the app store because some guy there has a fix.

If there is a known error with a simple fix then the DEVS need to fix it, thats their JOB!

How did you read all that from him? I didn't get that at all. Where did he say they can't fix it? It is a known bug it doesn't say it isn't fixed just because they haven't released a patch update yet to show it is fixed?

 
Yeh, not seeing the issue bloom. They'll fix it, if it's not already fixed in whatever build (201?) we get today.

Or, they'll decide to hold off until kinyajuu gets back and fixes the performance a bit first.

Either way, I'm fine with it.

It's like the 16k maps... They're disabled for a reason. For now. But, you can make one if you want.

 
RWG gets more atrocious every patch but this round, TFP have really outdone themselves in the name of MUHREALISM™. In a 4x4 map, I have 0.1% desert and very little snow.
Plains? Wasteland? What's that? I see nothing but a giant forest world with endless forest towns. Boring!
Aren’t you lucky, the only biome I have encountered this entire time (in my current playthrough) is a burning forest and I have been walking for over THREE DAYS.

I totally agree pregenerating is great for performance. Thats not the issue. The issue is that its pregenerating garbage.

I have not seen any dev or mod acknowlwdge missing cities and skyscrapers as a bug, have you?

Biomes are even easier... Paint.net the .png file to put them wherever you want. Snow in the middle? Paint it in.
C'mon. You don't really think it's easier to manually edit a map than the old RWG that gave us varied biomes.

I can paint.net exactly what I want, rather than mess with variables in an xml and HOPE what I want spawns...

Some dude was just complaining about having nothing but burnt forest. Others complain about x. Some y. Others z.

The classical problem of stuff being so random that it doesn't look random any more. Totally random will never work. For high quality maps it needs to appear random but be controlled enough to make it interesting. Kinda sounds like a16.4 to me.

 
I dunno; to me, Rwg was cute and all, but never looked as good as nav...

...that an enterprising old ♥♥♥♥ such as myself can create a map from scratch, means a lot more to me as a builder/dm/modder than walking around huge lakes hoping for a decent town.

Navez has all these nice little pretty details, like signs etc, landmarks, plus a better biome distribution. RWG could easily reach that point in the future I think. Here's to hoping.

 
I made another 10 worlds of 8x8 size.

houses stand in the air and collapse when you look at them.

there is no one map have skyscraper.

Hey ive been looking for this mixer that Tin has. Is it for A17? and would you mind linking the mixer or is there a place i can see what hard work you have done in the way of maps? I was unaware that you coudl handmake maps and I saw you mentioned you made at least 5 in another post :smile-new:

 
Dont turn off the option for larger servers with larger maps. My server had over 2000 players come through a16 and new players keep joining everyday. We need the large maps, currently it is 10k x 10k.
