PC V3.0 Dead Hot Summer Dev Diary

Sorry, but, There are still features they have said they planned on adding to 3.0...I would count that stuff as them knowing they will do (x?) more updates to get those in. (then, yes, there are still the unplanned adds or fixes).

I thought TFP "joining" BHVR was supposed to see us get improved communication...what happened to that?
Behaviour Interactive (BHVR) is not publicly running day-to-day development themselves. The Fun Pimps still control the creative direction and continue leading development, while Behaviour supplies additional staff, production capacity, technical expertise, publishing support, and business resources.

Since V3.0.1 Stable released on July 13, 2026, the visible work is mainly:
  • Bug fixing and report triage. V3.0.1 addressed Sign Tech exceptions, cosmetic issues, degradation resets, PvP damage conditions, challenge tracking, airdrops, trader placement and UI problems.
  • Collecting player feedback. TFP launched a player-satisfaction survey specifically asking about the game and Version 3.0, presumably to guide fixes and later priorities.
  • Expanding the team and franchise support. Behaviour has advertised dedicated 7 Days to Die roles, including a Brand Director, showing that it is building support around the title beyond the original TFP structure.
  • Continuing the existing roadmap. Behaviour’s stated purpose is to accelerate TFP’s established roadmap—not replace it with a new Behaviour-designed roadmap.
What has not been publicly announced yet:
  • No detailed post-V3.0.1 feature list
  • No confirmed V3.1 release date
  • No major Behaviour-led content expansion
  • No change to mod support or TFP’s creative control
  • No evidence Behaviour is forcing a Dead by Daylight-style live-service structure
The acquisition AMA said the teams were still early in integration and that the immediate focus remained 7 Days to Die, while other possible projects were too early to discuss.

So the practical answer is: Behaviour is currently supporting, staffing and integrating behind the scenes, while TFP handles the V3 bug-fix cycle. Publicly, their present direction matches—fixing V3 rather than immediately dumping another large batch of systems onto it. There is no official confirmation that all new content has been paused, but there also has not been a major new post-3.0.1 content announcement.

Yeah, they don't "plan" a specific number of updates for a version. They do whatever is necessary to fix bugs or add features that are related to that version. Once they are close to being ready for the next major version (4.0), then they'll stop adding new versions for 3.x.x and anything else will be held off until 4.0. Until then, we'll keep getting 3.x.x updates. That's always how it is, and it's not a bad thing. It doesn't in any way slow down the release of 4.0.
That’s 4.0.0 to you, bud.

Then they know there will likely be at least one more update. (unless the planned features all get delayed and everything gets moved to 4.0.0)

Multiply all your time expectations by 50 and you are probably much nearer to the real dates. ;)

so...by that math, it will take 9 - 10 years for them to put out an updated roadmap? it was Dec 30th when @madmole said they would put one out.

I didn't make that up...he said that they would.

How hard would it be to just put out a statement to say "yes - we are still going to put out an updated road map soon(tm)" or "no - due to constraints, we are unable to put out an updated road map that we have faith in. "

I can see that BHVR have not filled the positions they listed for 7 DTD. I can surmise they were waiting for that Senior Community Manager position to get filled, but, it still has not been. Seems like an internal company problem that they need to find a work around for. Time has kept marching.

You forgot the "0.", it's 0.4.0.0 for consoles.
You know... I like looking at the version number that way. We definitely aren't even 1.0, let along 3.x, so adding a 0. in front definitely feels right.

I don't think they ever said that. If I remember the sequence correctly, you were the one who said you hoped or expected it to improve communication. Perhaps others said it might as well, or even before you. But did TFP post anything saying that it would definitely improve communication? I don't remember seeing that anywhere. Assumptions from anyone on the forum who isn't TFP (that includes moderators, who aren't part of TFP) aren't necessarily going to be true and aren't official promises.

good grief. You are correct. What was implied was not directly said. I read thru the AMA again. The answers imply but do not flatly state that community communication would improve. vague bs to the rescue.

It's been 7 months since JOEL said that they would put out an updated road map...there's nothing vague about that.

One thing you used to push this before was the job listing of a community manager from BHVR. You took that to mean communication would improve, and maybe that's what it will mean. But as I told you a few days ago, that job hasn't been filled yet looking at their site, which means nothing has changed as of now.

well, they did say that TFP are still in charge and nothing has changed...so..."we" found ONE truthful statement, even if it was accidental.

HammerDano

You just don't stop, do you?
Asking faatal anything most likely won't get you an answer as I believe that you are on the ignore list :)
That's probably unlikely. However, faatal has said he scrolls past certain things. That may not include HammerDano's posts, but post the same thing too often and it might.

Is the 3.1 update going to have anything new besides the chicken coup?
Not that I've seen. New features are not too common between the major updates (3.0, 4.0) unless they are very minor. Most of the updates are bug fixes and improvements to existing features, or additions to existing features. For example, they may include more sandbox options because that would be an addition to the existing sandbox options.

You are so impatient. You should get a hobby to help you stop obsessing over this.
