V2.6 Stable

My guess would be that 3.0 will be out in June and 4.0 near the end of the year... But what do I know. 😁
I hope you are right, but, I am cynically thinking, the longer it takes...the less likely it will actually happen, at least under current management.

Would love to know how long they have been working on selling the company...these deals take a loooong time, probably at least a year, possibly closer to two.

Give 'em time, they're getting the rough timeline ready on a piece of sandpaper, and once they publish it, people can rub their face on it. :sneaky:
...And make their own assumptions on dates like they're set in stone, then get upset and flood the forums because those imaginary dates were not followed. 😁
I've been here for over 10 years now so I'm used to disappointments, but newer people might not know or understand and get upset.

Soon... It's done when it's done... Stay tuned! I've heard it all, over and over again.

@faatal
This is something that I found out while modding. If possible can the burning ■■■■ mod
be converted to the visual on the knife vs the spear in the example? I know that you are
not directly involved with it. Can you ask the person in charge. If they don't feel it is viable
can you ask them to relay, how I may do it myself.

It is more functional when in dark surrounding, because I still get the ambient light,
but the flame only renders on the screen when striking.

Hmmm. I do feel like the flame render is a little distracting on some weapons, but at the same time, the bone knife version looks bugged. I'd want something to be rendered. Maybe the flames just need to be toned down a little bit?

To look at it first hand, just add knife to the item modifier. It is like
holding a torch, because you get the flame shadow flicker on the knife ,
but not the flame on the screen until it hits something. Then it looks like
igniting then extinguishing a torch.

I can accept it as is, but would like to do the same on the spear.

Devs have been doing an fantastic job. My only "negative" opinion is that they aren't fixing what is supposed to be fixed and keep adding more stuff to it.

I know 2.6 stable just came out. I'm just curious if there's any rough timeline for 3.0 and 4.0? I'm not holding my breath and I'm sure you dont even want to give an estimate with this community lol
Faatal said they plan to have both 3.0 and 4.0 out by the end of the year. Knowing TFP, I don't hold out hope for that to happen, but I'm thinking around March next year for 4.0. I expect 3.0 will be out this year, and probably by the end of summer since it's mostly just a bunch of options.

Something I read recently gave me the impression that the combining of items (like cooking pots, etc.), in a workbench I presume, to increase their stats, might make it into 3.0? Have you read anything that has given any clues about when that'll be implemented?

I haven't seen any guarantees on when that will happen, but I may have missed something. I haven't been paying as much attention as normal to posts lately... the whole thing with BI has soured the game for me a bit and I just haven't really felt like paying too much attention lately, not to mention the annoying change to dew collectors to make them require jars. I'm not even trying 2.6.

Now now now....things are not that bleak. Try 2.6 with 0% jar return and just ignore the dew collector. I've found that I actually enjoy dumping all my sand in the forge now and crafting jars to fill up and boil on the campfire. I've also enjoyed installing a well in my base near my campfires. If I want a dew collector for its sexy profile on the roof of my base I'll craft one at some point but it's nothing to avoid playing 2.6 over. The way I see it, the dew collector is a lateral choice to the campfires now. Do it if you like them or don't do them if your campfire setup is good enough.

So far in my play with 2.6 and my testing of 3.0 I haven't tasted any hint of BI curdling in the TFP milk. It still all seems 100% fresh TFP for now.

And I thought Dano was the doom and gloom guy.

As I understand it, fataal will always ignore me on the issue of optimizing the server core? Since he hasn't answered this question for several months with repeated mentions, he answers the rest of the questions
