PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

That excites me hopefully alot of changes and hopefully third person
It has a moderate amount of changes so far. I have 9 storm changes currently. I will be testing those in my play for fun game tonight. Will be switching from 200% to 300% as storms happen less often and are shorter now.

3rd person camera still has a lot of work needed, so it will be a while for that.

The storms are a waste of precious gaming time & people have quit because of them. When people come home from a hard day of work and want to chill to a little looting or whatever when you have a precious hour or 2, waiting for a storm to end makes me want to play COD.
If only there was an option to turn them off.....

Complains about limited gaming time but comes here to complain rather than just turning them off and playing............

Ohh good. They always managed to catch me just as I was out for an air drop or a treasure in the middle of nowhere.
Can't you just dig down and mine mats during a storm? It hasn't happened to me yet, but I thought that was possible.

I don't mind storms, it's taking damage just being outside that annoys me. Maybe a mobility penalty and some visual impairment. I'll even be ok with occasionally be struck with flying debris and taking damage. Not turning them off regardless

On the contrary, I think that taking damage is normal. It reminds me of the sandstorm mechanics in Conan Exiles, although there are differences. Here you can survive the storm in an open field, although it is expensive, but there you can't.

What I don't like about the current implementation is the storm duration - it's too long.

Excited to see the changes, faatal. I enjoy the new storm feature very much and despite what some may say I think they makes sense. We have blood moons causing zombies to group up and attack us every seven days, why not add biome specifc storms to the mix as well?

I don't think damage should be completely removed but I do think there should be some way for us to negate it. Biome badges should help in this regard. Also, I am surprised lightning strikes are not a threat. I wouldn't mind the risk of getting zapped while out and about, haha.

Yes. But if you're in the middle of something, you don't necessarily want to mine. And if you're returning from scavenging with a full load, you have no room to mine. But yes, it is an option. So is scavenging a POI or whatever. It still feels like an annoyance to many of us. I've mentioned that I hate the storms in No Man's Sky for the same reason. Yes, you can get to the point where you can be protected from the storms, and yes, you can dig underground and move that way if you wanted to, but it's still frustrating. Taking a very slow amount of damage over time isn't a big deal, but a lot of damage becomes a pain, leading to sitting there waiting, which isn't fun.

I like the visuals for the storms, but I would love to see a storm damage setting that can be set to 0% for those of us who would like to see the storms without having to hide from them.

oh i get it. for me i was thinking the main issue people are having is not having a place to hide from the storm when they are out and about. like if i was going after buried treasure my inventory is mostly empty, so i'll take that opportunity to dig more clay/stone while the storm rages overhead.

But totally get it, if your pack is full, that just sucks.

I've started to see alot of 7days bad videos

Kinda strange they are coming out of no where. I get some things have changed and I wish we had some things back but maybe one day or the next game

People have lost their collective minds ever since the release of 2.0 - I don't recall it being this bad even when the devs removed jars. Every top post on the subreddit is akin to this (and you'll be downvoted to the underworld if you dare to post a video/post about you having fun with the game), every Steam forum top post, most YouTube comment sections are full of the same tired nonsense. It's not ignorable anymore, to the point I simply avoid all these spaces, and more.

Because people are miserable.

Mmhmm. It takes a very special type of creature to moan and rant about a game for years upon years without ever daring to think to move on, the kind of individual who should be in a cage in a zoo so the rest of us can throw peanuts at them. (Was that too harsh?...) There are those who provide honest, constructive, civil feedback and leave alternative solutions on how to fix current real or perceived/subjective problems, and those who are perpetually unhappy with absolutely everything thrown at them, even if they're given what they demanded to their exist specifications. Like any fandom, most of all what's left screaming to the wind online are tribalistic chronically online troglodytes and trolls perpetually sustaining their own misery, meanwhile demonizing anyone with any form of opinion that doesn't conform to their hivemind. It's ironic that these are the types who throw around the term "sheep" a lot. As they say, misery loves company, and hurt people hurt people.

In response to them, don't feed the trolls.

This is not to say all of their opinions are invalid - many are. You're allowed to love/like a game and find flaws with it, usually because you want the game to succeed and to be the best version it can be (to your vision). But what matters is the intent and the expression of their disagreement, which to avoid repeating myself, many fall into the above category.

Edit reasons: spelling, tidying things up

I mean I don't blame them too point. The game changed alot some for good, some for mid, some for bad

But I'm hopeful for the future.

Aside from the forums everything else is just pure spite and hate

Mmhmm. I'm a part of a content creator's discord, and it's a wonderful place there. Aside from there and here, everything else seems to be a smouldering dumpster fire, so I have no interest in continuing to dumpster dive. I've found my oasis. (Oasises? Oasi?)

But overall this update is a true update it adds on more then anything. I think peoples problems where that some updates took away stuff. Jars, armor etc

I've always said this but If this game came out now I'm sure people wouldn't complain

I'm not really on a discord. I've been on the 7 days one but it's same as here and I can't post ideas so. Na

And aside from the great modding Discord servers. The modding community here is excellent. Some very great people in it.
