PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

They usually do a few dev streams leading up to Streamer Weekend and Experimental release. They did this for 1.0 since there were a lot of changes coming - each stream was somewhat "dedicated" to different things, like one stream for "here's some new POIs," "here's some new features" etc.

I get the feeling we aren't going to see a "Streamer Weekend" for this release.  Usually they take applications for a few weeks, and then there is a week or two after they close the apps before the weekend is announced.  Given that we are currently only a couple of weeks away from when the projected release of experimental is, there is no time to go through with the application process. Even if they decided to forego the application process, they should have made an announcement and started notifying the prospective participants. (Assuming they just pulled the participant list from the last event.)
So the haters can likely rejoice that TFP skipped the event this time, and just went solely with dev streams.

Of course, they could always prove me wrong and do something unexpected.

So, once again, we're back to speculations, and no official planned schedule from TFP. It always makes me chuckle to see the "experts on everything TFP" reading the tea leaves when they supposedly should already be in the loop if this was a more organized business.

I understand that they don't exactly know when they can release 2.0, but at least they should tell everybody what their plan is.

Something like: "We're aiming for an end of April release for experimental, but we plant to do 3 dev-stream sessions in the weeks before. If something goes wrong we may postpone the schedule one or more weeks but it will stay the same. The first stream will be dedicated to graphics and visual improvements, the second one to new POIs and spawn mechanics, the third and final one will be focused on new gameplay aspects like the new hazard system."

That would be nice.

"projected" seems you are really confidant about the experimental release being on schedule for apr although for most of the last years timeline has been dedicated to console release would come before it. Still need 1.4 / console to dedicated update first but i guess time well tell and if i had to bet or wager money apr release for 2.0 is very optimistic.

Yeah, I'm well aware of these guys and their estimates.  I shoulda used quotes.   Based on recent history though, I think it is reasonable to expect the experimental test to launch on Steam probably before the end of April.

If you recall last year, I was estimating October or November for 1.0, and then suddenly they threw it out in July.

At least it shouldn't be like Alpha 17.

the only thing that ever bothers me about expected release dates is how that effects server populations... since admins have really no clue when those dates will actually happen it puts many doubts in players minds about map resets and future timeline of the current server there playing on. Alot of players just say "screw it" ill just wait tell it comes out. This has been a crutch for many admins over the years as personally myself i get players every day asking "when will the next wipe be" and so on. To me it would almost be best for them not to say anything and just release it when it happens.

I was thinking it was just delayed, like normal. I'm guessing a June release right now.

I do know how to force it to any date I like. All I have to do is book a trip. Murphy's Law dictates releases must happen when I travel.

Pretty sure that streamer weekends as we knew them no longer exists and it will be down to the Lurkit partner program for things like that now.

@faatal Hello there! Hope you are well.

Anything at all coming in the way of DirectX 12 and DLSS support for Update 2.0 (or later)?

I just saw that an old adventure/puzzle game called Machinarium (from 2009) just got a DirectX 12 technical update so, why not 7 days to Die?

The DLSS mod from Nexus Mods works great but, I would prefer that TFP supports DLSS natively and not have to rely on installing a mod. Any chance of this ever happening?

I know about FSR but, for NVidia RTX card owners, DLSS would still be better.

Speaking of FSR; are you planning to upgrade to the latest version in Update 2.0 (or later)?

Quagmire is correct: partnering with streamers is now handled through the ongoing Creator Program, powered by Lurkit. I can’t speak to the timing, but any streamer event for V2.0 would be conducted via that campaign.

No DX12 changes other than using a newer version of Unity. No DLSS support, but there is a chance someday.

FSR has been updated to a slightly newer version of 3.1. Based on some of the FSR setting confusion on this forum, I did get one of our programmers to add an upscaling setting to the video options, so is no longer in the AA settings.

Naw that transition happened when the forums went to a more "business" approach with MM less active, post pruning, etc, and I like casual conversations and one liners, so now I just socialize on my modding discord.
hi gup how are ya?

miss you and MM and jax and that era fellas

dont post much nowadays as it is mostly          not interesting

except for faatal of course 🙂

havent played for months. watch jawoodle and a bit of glock, ok most of glock but all of jawoodle

seems to me the specialness of these forums has gone since mm has gone silent
