PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Too much emphasis on weather and such, what Id really like to see if a much bigger variety in weapons. Not just pipe pistol, 9mm pistol, smg, but rather pipe pistol, 20 versions of all kind of random pistols and then 10 different smgs. Same for meelee, got sharp bone then shank then sharpened metal bar then knife then, that's not a kinfe now thats a knoife, then swords then katanas finally a frickin chainsword. Spears, sharpened rebar, a pilum, a javelin some silly weapons like jousting spear or w/e give us weapon variety, that would be a cool update.

Bit of rain here and there and some wind will keep us entertained for exactly 2 times we see it, now a vast arsenal will keep us entertained for ever. Not like there is lack of real life guns / weapons to get inspiration from, so please add them to the game.

I'd like to see a very tall bell curve for the stats on both crafted and looted weapons. A chance (albeit small) to find gear with amazing stats greatly prolongs the excitement of finding purple (or whatever the highest level) gear in the late game.

I'd rather them just get the dedicated servers out..
hosting only 4 (xbox series x)  - 3 plus me is getting annoying.. lol
Having the obligation to go home, turn on my xbox and wait for some soul to log on and once in a great while play with someone who actually sticks around.

i want to host but don't want to be locked down because i only have 2 choices; make the game available for the returning players, or not play and everyone who wants to join now can't; especially if they're in the mood to play. This of course could risk them finding a new home / server to play on even though you would have otherwise been happy to host them but perhaps 1 or 2 days folk too a break but you didn't know their schedule or plan so you try to stay on unknowingly finding out they just don't feel like coming on that day, so you waste an evening after work till bed hoping the off-chance someone will return.

Some days i might also feel like i want to play another game but feel guilty if you get a message saying "hey you playing 7D2D today" ... or perhaps no message being sent to me but a player might have been aiming to join but my server session isn't available due to me playing some other game.

I saw they delayed April 15th.. but now supposedly several weeks delay and perhaps early May... now we're in early May heading towards middle of May... still nothin.

It would be a little more intense if it were more of a constant
spew, with the head kind of waving side to side releasing a constant wide wave,
not like the cop, but more like Arnold Vosloo in the mummy. That and the
kid from miss peregrine's home for peculiar children, feels like a plague,
and if it explodes becomes a horde of hornets and rats and snakes simultaneously.

Inside a poi, close quarters, that would be awesome, from a movie viewpoint.

I only think this way because this is an updated special entity,
It should be a total badass, causing intense bleeding and infections.
You should have to fight your way through to get to this monster.

Those are hornets, aren't they. Just without the stingers showing.

 
more ranged zombies with flies though?  really?   so we're surviving in the new biodome learning it's thing, while you got a zombie hidden in clouds and not seen firing at us and perhaps not even knowing which direction to run to them kill them...  This would also negate the whole spear usage for ranged melee weapons for it's ranged downward attack on horde going up against on your wall cause even more things on-top of the undead birds flying at you or police firing at you - now buzzing in your hear from an enemy you may not even be able to see.....
This game follows the thinking "This is how you die"  <- Project Zomboid... lol
I prefer the idea of "this is how i survived"  assuming changes aren't so much against the player which is another story..

Definitely should !

To add to that. I also think these swarms should be able to be killed with melee weapons only, shooting bullets would be really unrealistic. 
And hitting them with a club is realistic?  I'm definitely not a fan of their attack.  Everything else about them and the storm are great, but that attack is awful.

They won't add a ton more weapons like that.  You might get a third baton weapon before gold, but that's about it.  Maybe they'll add a weapon DLC at some point.  They want the weapons to be unique and not just minor differences by having a lot of very similar weapons.  This isn't meant to be a game like those that have dozens of different weapons to find and use.  If you want more weapons, and are on PC, you can use a mod like Izayo's weapon mod to get a lot more weapons.

There's nothing wrong with ranged zombies.  The fly attack is awful, I agree.  But only because it looks pretty ridiculous.  And being able to attack the attack is just dumb, imo.  I wish they'd rethink that attack.  But I'm fine with it being ranged.  The other new zombie will also have a ranged attack, btw.

The zombie isn't hidden at all.  It can be seen in the video.  And storms aren't going to happen constantly, and can even be turned off in the game settings.  The storms will damage you, so you're supposed to go inside during them anyhow, so you really shouldn't be fighting stuff out in the storm to begin with.

This game is hardly difficult... at least, not unless you're on the highest difficulty level(s).  And even then, it's not that difficult most of the time.  Ranged attacks benefit diversity in the game and make it so you have to overcome different challenges.  There's nothing wrong with that.

Meanwhile I'm making a video that's about a hour long about more weapons lmao 🤣 

But it's a shame imo because the game needs more longer progression.  Short progression for a game like rust or ark is fine cuz it's mostly pvp. But games like Conan, Valhalum (i dont care to spell it) have much longer progression and it's more fun imo cuz I feel really good once I get too the top tier.  

If they don't wanna add a few new melee weapons/guns then at least new tiers like scrap would treat the game well.

Tbh alot of games with swarms have them shoot able/meleeable. So this isn't just a 7 days problem. 

I hope they are stronger if you uses something normal but as soon as you put fire on it they drop like Flys. Get it. Flys!!!

 
I like the new zombie, I was expecting a cop spit alternate that would get you infected on hit, but this is much better. I still hope the chance of infection is higher with this zombie so it can live up to its name.

The only thing though is that we shouldn't be able to kill a swarm of flies with a melee weapon in just a few hits. Unless it's a torch, or the stun baton (bug zapper) or if the melee weapon is equipped with the burning shaft mod. I think that would force us to prepare before visiting the desert.

Even if they decided to add an additional tier of weapons, you'd get a single weapon from each type, which I don't think is what they were asking for.  It sounds more like they're looking for the game to be like those games that have a ton of different weapons that are all basically the same thing with different skins and maybe different animations, but basically the same damage just for the sake of having all those weapons.  That wouldn't really fit well in this game, imo.

I know other games do that same kind of attack... that doesn't make it a good thing to copy from those other games.
