PC V2.0 Delayed Again

I believe I have said this before, but always worth repeating

TFP has a history of pushing back updates / releases because of issues coming up and things not being ready for release

TFP has a history of not pushing their employees to the breaking point just to meet an arbitrary date

I am thankful that TFP will delay a release to get things right

You guys want it both ways: TFP never meet deadlines...so the roadmap was aspirational? a sales tool? not the content...just the timings of course. They know they don't meet their deadlines, but, it's not okay that I am @%$#ed off they sat on their hands on submitting for dedicated servers for console...because they thought they were almost done? be a little reasonable. this is the third delay on 2.0...believe it or not, but, things have not been great for console, and these guys just casually admit that yeah they should have done it long ago...but....@%$# you... mistakes get made.

no one is advocating for sweatshop treatment... they have had a long time to stop being this half assed. both of these things can be true at the same time. the situation can be great for you and also not great for someone else at the same time. see where I am going with that?

Them delaying updates is because they aren't half assing it...

You moan because they've delayed an update, but I'm sure you'd still be here whining if they went ahead and released it and it was a buggy mess. Do you even play the game at this point? Or does your console crusade take up all your free time?

There are mixed reactions to how the game has been released on console. I play on Xbox Series X and have a different take on it.

My biggest gripe is the poor optimization that causes awful lag and stuttering. That being said, I'm also willing to bear with the poor optimization in hopes that it will one day be fixed. I also understand it may never run as it's intended due to console hardware limitations.

I'm more patient and forgiving because I really love the gameplay and believe in what The Pimps have made. I played the original Tell Tale version right up to the point when this newer version was released. I'm actually glad to be able to play the game now even in its current state as I wait for it to be improved. Again, just another console player's perspective, not to diminish the Op's feeling about it.

Even the 2.0 release isn't a guarantee. It falls entirely on whether Sony and Microshaft will approve it with this release.
Players have been waiting almost a decade for tfp to fix security issues that plague dedicated. What makes anyone think those fixs will get done in just a couple of months so sony and microsoft will approve? Anyone who thought the fixs would get done that quick was just fooling themselves. I dont blame sony and microsoft for not wanting to put thier name behind the things admins and players have had to deal with over the years from this game. TFP have known about the hacker exploits for years now and untill that stuff gets fixed i highly doubt sony or microsoft will approve 7d2d, Thats just common sense.

COD has not fixed cheaters.  And they are the biggest multiplayer FPS games on the market.   But go ahead and blame one company for the problem that plagues the game industry as a whole.

I see...the uno reverse card logic. with a smattering of ignorance...and habitual ignoring of any elephants in the room.

super simple breakdown: COD control their own servers...which sony and MS like....7dtd does not...that is one difference. He was not blaming TFP for it.

fair...in a Gun's Nerds and Steel interview with TFP from 2022, the brothers said they had no intention of relaunching to console without it being as feature complete as possible before launch...they knew that was important...so why did we get such a mess? It's not that I have not been paying attention...it is that they don't keep their word. They intend to...but they @%$# up a lot...schedule gets out of control...except why? it is their schedule, and they don't crack the whip like corporate, again...people want it both ways.

Is the "X" still having a lot of lag problems? A guy down in the console section said the same thing. I am surprised. It's the wasteland and tier 6 that are too stuttery and laggy for me...everything up to tier 5 in the Winter is playing pretty good on the "S". a far cry from the first couple of playthroughs for sure.

He was blaming them for the hackers on 7DTD.   Not servers.   COD controls there servers yet still infested with hackers.   Did you read the guy I responded to?

It helps to take a break from posting too much on forums.

yes sir I did,

the hackers are on the servers...he is saying the servers exploits are the problem...the hackers are the symptom not the disease. I hear what you are saying though, how is it different IF they all suffer the same fools? Riamus has a post in this thread explaining the difference between dedicated and peer to peer, which, while not the same thing, I use it now to illustrate how complicated these "handshakes" can be. It is the security in the "handshakes" that is the major concern in this certification process for the platforms. They don't want any splash back.

Yea, unfortunately the Series X is laggy/stuttering also. You can just be doing basic stuff like walking or gathering crops from farming and the stutter/lag is awful, very annoying. It's interesting because sometimes it's mild other times huge. You can tell the console is just struggling to keep up.

I really hope they can fix it to at least make it bearable. The temporary resolution to have things spawn in as you approach it is annoying too. I can be driving the bike and all of a sudden a car decides to spawn in front of me. There goes another repair kit, like I have extra duct tape to spare! Lol..

I never said I wanted it both ways, you are projecting what you want onto me.  When they released the roadmap, they specifically stated that Timing was subject to change.  And with their past history of throwing out target dates, but pushing the releases back to fix issues that came up during development, I expected that the releases would be spaced out more than they expected (based on previous releases).  The road map is still nice to have as it shows when the major elements that they discussed previously are planned to be released.

TFP did not sit on their hands , they made a business decision based on where they thought they were.  That is part of owning your own business.  You make decisions and sometimes those decisions are not the correct ones when looking back.  Hindsight is always 20/20, but you are faulting them based on what you know today, not what they knew back then.

It's easy not to have your own game development business and complain about their decisions after time has passed.  Heck that applies to any industry out there really.  I work in the automotive industry and the number of armchair quarterbacks out there criticizing the industry years later as if they had a crystal ball and knew what the right choice was at the time.  Decisions are easy to make when you don't have any skin in the game.

They knew and acknowledged in 2022 that they should not re-release to console in this sorry state...they did it anyway. that seems pretty pre-meditated. In that they had put thought into it...and then ignored it...perhaps...just for their own expedience.

rwg, peer to peer and dedicated should have been day one, parity is having the same things...having one person or one team dedicated to getting it out to console, so it would not become an "oversight", or get lost in the shuffle, should already be a thing. so while you might see this as a business decision...I see this as a middle finger. they knew we should have had it on launch...they know they have a long history of poor decisions/missed deadlines...why is it still okay with you that they are not trying to change that? THAT is what the roadmap appeared to be...an attempt to change that...an acknowledgement that they needed to.

I don't caucus with the group that thinks, because they paid a small amount many years ago, everyone should just chill out about how good or bad it is for console.

I'm with the people who paid twice and are still left lacking.

the devs said in the pre launch devs streams, that it would be a loooooooong time before this game ever goes on sale again...so you better use your legacy discount.  How many times has it been on sale in 9 months? do you think it is right that the game has been on 35% off sales longer that we had to use our "legacy" discount?

I do see those things as middle fingers.

TFP knew they were going to relaunch to console...was/is this site made ready for us to return...nope. It's been half assed.

do you guys care that stuff is true...nope...not happening to you.

Many console players wanted them to re-release the game properly instead of half ass like what Telltale did. RIP.

Not everyone will be happy but that is every game ever sold.

I think gamers buy new games too often and forget that they never have to buy a game that is newly released.   Everyone has the option to what 1 year or 5 years down the road.

Every company gives you the finger as they all want you to buy impulsively.

You were told before you purchased the game (it was in their announcements) that RWG was not going to be released with the Console version because they were working through technical issues to get it working.   It was actually slated for V2.0, but they were able to release it ahead of time.  Same thing with Cross play.

You had Peer to Peer on Day 1, it was launched with that option as that was the only way (at the time) you can play multiplayer with others on X-box (if you have an X-box) and PS5 (if you have PS5).

Dedicated servers were not possible until Cross play came a reality.  Since Cross play was not slated until V2.0, having it on Day 1 with V1.0 release was not practical.

You were told all of this, but choose to purchase the game when V1.0 came out.  So complaining about them not releasing those features on Day 1 seems counter-productive.

As for the discount / sales, what company out there gives you a timeline on when sales will come out and how much they will be?  They told you how much the legacy discount was and for how long it would last - so if you wanted to get the game when it was released, you would know exactly how long the 25% discount would last.  They never said there would never be a sale later where the price would drop to even lower than the 25% discount.  Anything you buy today can go down in price - it is up to you to decide when you want to make the purchase based on the information you have today - there is no obligation for any company out there to inform you when the lowest price their product will be available.

There isn't much point in arguing with Hammer. He is just gonna keep repeating the same things over and over. He knew(or should have known) when he bought the new release that RWG wasn't going to be initially included, but yet here he is, months after it was added still whining about it not being in on release. At this rate if they add dedicated servers for console tomorrow he'll still be mentioning it for the rest of the year. Look at his post history. It's the same few lines posted over and over and over and over....

At this rate the dedicated servers are needed to host Hammers complaints, it will be delayed until more severcenters are build.

In 2022 the sorry state they acknowledged was releasing a different version for console. When the original console version released it was based on Alpha 14. It received several updated features from Alpha 15 and only a very few from Alpha 16.

Meanwhile the PC version moved on and the two versions became very different. When they bought back the rights they decided they would  re-release only if they could make one unified version for all platforms.

1.0 was a unified version. Even though console had some missing features compared to PC, they were still the same versions of the game. The proof of this is that once cross play was enabled PCs and consoles could play together.

Going forward the different platforms will never diverge again as they did in the past.
