you probably didn't read carefully, i wrote the name of the quest "Grover High"
no i'm not going through it in stealth
Hey I realize you probably thoughtbi was being a jerk there, but I knew the poi you were talking to.

Sarcasm mode "didja know there can be more than 1 quest type at most pois???"

Seriously though you didn't answer the question I asked.  But I certainly k ow some pois are bugged.  There was a t2 1 that you couldn't finish as well. But I was trying to see if it was a playstyle vs quest type issue

no matter what T5 and T6 are both impossible there are no markers for zombies and there are no zombies themselves, we even once deliberately demolished the entire building (I repeat on different servers, I have 2 dedicated servers that I have been running for many years)

The question was about quest type - clear, fetch, clear/fetch, restore power, infestation.  We can assume, based on you saying that you can't kill all the zombies, that it's either clear, clear/fetch, or infestation.  Those those should all work the same in terms of the killing zombie part of the quest.  However, infestation does have additional spawns and therefore may be bugged on the additional spawns and not the normal spawns.  Knowing the quest type is helpful when trying to determine where the problem is without having to test every quest type to find out.

Keep in mind that "no zombies" is normal, which I would assume you know if you've been playing for years.  Zombies aren't all spawned in a POI at one time.  They only spawn when they are triggered.  You can destroy any entire POI from the outside without going inside and you're not going to complete any clear, clear/fetch, or infestation quest because zombie sleeper volumes inside will not have been triggered and therefore the zombies aren't spawned.  The zombie markers only appear when you are down to the last certain number of sleeper volumes (the exact number varies by POI).  Depending on the situation, you may have too many sleeper volumes that aren't triggered for one reason or another, which would prevent the markers from showing.

In either case, knowing the quest type would make it easier for people to test this themselves and determine if it's a single volume not working or multiple volumes, and which ones they are.

I'm already starting to get annoyed by your maybe or maybe, it was a cleanup, it was done many times on different servers, all the zombies were killed, they followed the path provided by the creator of the quest, what else do you want to know or prove, are you a developer? I suspect that you are not, but you behave exactly like that, do not answer my post anymore, I do not want to waste time on empty answers.

P.S. this quest was impossible to complete in version 1.2, the developers wrote that they fixed it, but I am writing that it continues to be impossible
Unable to clear school_03 "Grover High" plus large combat performance improvements

Grover High is still broken. DED-EFIM is right. He is not the only one to report it. I tried doing a clear quest and there were no more zombies to kill and the quest did not complete. There was no final yellow dot. I flew around in god mode to every nook and cranny and there was nothing.

Also, a POI quest has bounds. You cross those bounds and you fail the quest. That should be the only reason a quest fails outside of getting killed. I shouldn't have to stick to a very specific route to ensure that the game doesn't bug out.

For now, I will go back to ignoring Grover High until the next round of updates.

Yeah, I don't think anyone said they didn't think there was a problem, other than the devs thinking they fixed the bug.  Of course, the the devs also stated they fixed one reason for it not working, but warned that there may be other causes.  The question here was about which quest type so people could try it themselves and see if they have the same experience.  Thank you for clearly stating the quest type, which wasn't provided by the DED-EFIM even after being asked multiple times.  I did test it when it was mentioned last time (before the update) to verify the details of it, but I'm taking a bit of a break from the game right now, so I am not going to do any testing this time around.  But I'm sure others will look at it as well.

The easiest test of it is just to start a new world that has that POI, teleport to the POI, use creative mode to give yourself the dev pistol, use the console to give yourself the appropriate quest type for Grove High, then follow the intended path and kill everything with the dev pistol.  That pistol makes it easy to kill everything without any chance of things despawning, so you know that isn't the cause of any problems.  It also makes it easy to test without having to make it work in an existing game where you might have trouble getting the quest or not have enough level to complete it.  That POI can be completed in around 10 minutes with that pistol at level 1, so it's an easy test.  If someone does test it, try to keep track of each spawn group so you can then open the POI in POI Editor and find what group(s) aren't spawning.  That will help the devs find the problem.

I am pretty sure that I remember there being a zombie spawn that is out of the standard path, though I can't recall where it was.  But it wasn't hard to find... a side room or something like that.  But flying around in god mode should make it easy to find that, so I'm sure you didn't miss it, though some people might when doing that POI, especially newer players.

If this isn't the same issue as the manifest file that kept coming up with older releases then it might be a case of your virus scanner preventing the download. You could exclude the game directory from being protected (in windows defender or whatever you have) if you haven't done already.  HOWTO is in the support section. Then verify again.

boot.config is a very small text file by the way, just 3 lines. Gives me doubts this is really the issue, but it is worth a try

Well, I've tried this and still the same.

What's driving me nuts (besides the lock-ups) is I can do a file verification, close out Steam, get back into Steam, do another file verification, and the exact same file gets flagged as being invalided / corrupt / whatever.

On top of this, I've just now noticed my Turrets are disappearing if I leave my Base for a little bit.

Not a good thing to discover on Horde Night . . .

Only option I can think of right now is to do a total remove / reinstall, but then I lose my game.

Not sure I want to do that with 2.0 coming out in about a month.

Appears I'm the only one experiencing this, so I guess something happened on my System game related to do this.

Thought file integrity check would address this, but it doesn't seem too.

Guess we'll see what happens April / May.

Have you tested with a new save?  If you are testing in an existing save, it is not as likely to be fixed, no matter what you do.

As far as turrets missing after a bit... is your entire base within a land claim?  And do you find any broken metal or whatever near where they used to be?

@LostBoy

I assume you are on a pc, and you are the administrator. If so you can try this to see if your actual pc profile's

security level has been corrupted.

Right click on the boot.config file goto properties security

left click on administrators     all should be checked except special permissions

left click on users                    all should be checked except special permissions

Got to control panel

User Accounts

Your account that you log in with should say   Local Account

                                                                           Administrator

                                                                           password protected

Another check that can actually be done after looking at the base account rights is

right mouse click on the 7dtd folder

left click on administrators     all should be checked except special permissions

left click on users                    all should be checked except special permissions

If all of this is correct  then right click on the 7daystodie.exe and select run as administrator

first attempt to run the game in this mode to see if you get the same message if it runs it means that

there may be a corrupt profile. In that case the safest thing to do is

Create a new logon to the pc               do not delete  the old one at any time

When you create the logon profile make sure to assign it   full rights and administrative rights

log of present logon

and log back in under the new administrative profile, and attempt file verification and try to run the game.

If you can then it means that you local profile may have corruption in its rights.

If it does not work then this is the most I could suggest at the moment.

I only have the one save I've been using, coming up on Day 120 I think.

Not really wanting to start a new game until 2.0 comes out, but I may change my mind on that depending how things go.

The Turret is almost directly below the Land Claim block - 3 cubes below, 4 or 5 cubes South of it.

All those are good.

Plan on doing a clean game wipe and reinstall when 2.0 comes out.

Just to clarify, the freeze seems to only happen when I'm on the Motorcycle, and can happen anytime from 30 minutes to a couple hours playing.

System Temps / Voltages all look good, and this is the only game that I have problems with.

It's a puzzler.

Side note - has anyone come across the 4 Pocket Mod yet ?

I'm ~ Level 89 and haven't seen one in loot or the dozen Traders I've found.

There's about a half dozen I haven't gotten yet.

You can create a new save without losing your old one in order to see if things work.  A save that has problems normally cannot be fixed and you'd need to either just deal with the problems or start a new save.  It can be good to keep a backup of your game every so often in case something messes up so that you don't have to start over entirely.  Though this game is designed for many new games, so it's not that bad to restart.

If the turret is in your land claim, then that isn't related.  But have you seen damaged stuff below where the turrets were (like the broken iron I-beams that you'll sometimes see if you break something iron)?

The 4-pocket mod is only available from the challenge completion, I believe.  You could get it by using the Creative Menu if you want it, or use a small XML mod to make it possible to craft if you want.

No damage or debris at all.

Pretty much they'd have to breech my walls to get to the turret, but there's no evidence of that either.

Thought I posted this yesterday, but there were a lot on Internet outages issues . . . still won't post today ?

I didn't think zombies broke them.  It was possible that there was a loading issue and they loaded before the base under then did, causing them to fall.  But there is a decent chance you would see the debris, though it is random.

It was with checking.  Not sure what else it may be, though Internet problems can have unexpected effects.

I've got some of weird corruption going on with the game.

I just saw a Rabbit run from one spot to a spot ~ 20 cubes away, then the same or another Rabbit did the same thing from the same place.

This happened several times before I finally shot the Rabbit.

Now I'm seeing this :

image.png

It's not going away either, it's just sitting there and new message drop and eventually fade away, but not these.

Dang, I may to do a total wipe on this after all   .   .   .   that or park this game until 2.0 comes out.

That issue with loot is not uncommon.  Exiting the game and opening it again will solve that.

The rabbit does sound like a bug.

One of many.

If memory serves me correctly, this may be the same game from 1.0 with just upgrading to each new load since they said everything would still work fine minus some candy.

Well, guess I'm off to wipe everything and start all over - hate to do that with 2.0 on the horizon, but too much craziness going on and it seems to only be expanding :(

My thoughts exactly :)

Wiped game, wiped Appdata/*

Disk Defrag / Trim.

I get this after doing a file verification (for the heck of it) :

Will give it a shot with a new Map / Game.

Disk defrag?  Are you on HDD?  SSD drives shouldn't be defragged.  And if you're on HDD, the game doesn't run very well on those.
I think he means he went in defrag, but used the retrim option... I hope.

I agree that if he's still using an HDD then... My condolences.
