I don't think I had any trouble when I only had HD in my system. Now that was over a year ago but to tell the truth I never had any trouble running the game with HD except it took longer to load the game.

I am grateful now though that I have an ssd for faster boots.

The game runs pretty smoothly for me even in my old rig (from 2017)

HDD gives you two main problems, though it can affect other things.  First, as you mentioned, the game loads much more slowly.  Second, whenever the game clears data from memory, it can freeze the game.  This used to happen every 20 minutes and when you open inventory and perhaps certain other windows, though I don't know if that has changed since when I used to use HDD.  That freeze can last for a few seconds or even a few minutes, depending how much data is being cleared and likely also depending on other computer specs.  In addition to those really obvious things, it can lead to problems loading chunks, causing stuff to pop in as you move and could potentially cause an increased problem of falling through the world in a game with others and it can increase the chance of a corrupted save.  The game is constantly reading and writing to the hard drive, so any delays caused by a very slow hard drive (HDD is very slow compared to SSD) can cause you a lot of different problems, even if many of them aren't as noticeable.  It's just better to run the game on SSD (and save to SSD).

Maybe you don't consider these things to be a big deal and so may feel like my statement that the game doesn't run very well on HDD isn't accurate.  My statement of that is partially fact, because there are issues compared to SSD, and partially opinion because I personally don't like the pauses and long loading times and potential for corrupted saves and so on.

Just to be clear, it's HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and not HD (which is High Definition). SSD is Solid State Drive. Picky I know, but those are the real terms and avoids any confusion with other people not computer savvy, who read these posts.

lol I didn't say I don't consider them to be a big deal. I just mentioned that before I got my ssd and used an ordinary HDD I never had one of the problems you mentioned as far as I can remember.

My game use to run fine from what I recall. Very playable. I did say though that that was over a year ago and with the new updates it might not have run so well but up until I installed windows 10 and the ssd it did run fine for me.

That was another thing. I was using Windows 7 also and I did notice that my RAM use to pretty much max out when playing but after I installed Windows 10 it cut down quite a bit.

Yeah I was talking HDD. Just a regular hard drive.

Sorry for misunderstanding. I thought you just meant it ran fine because those things didn't bother you.  😀

I've got some of weird corruption going on with the game.

I just saw a Rabbit run from one spot to a spot ~ 20 cubes away, then the same or another Rabbit did the same thing from the same place.

This happened several times before I finally shot the Rabbit.

Now I'm seeing this :

It's not going away either, it's just sitting there and new message drop and eventually fade away, but not these.

Dang, I may to do a total wipe on this after all   .   .   .   that or park this game until 2.0 comes out.
Just exit the game and restart it and the problem of things pilling up on top of others will be gone.
