And I really wouldn't mind it if melee weapons were levelled up on a per-use basis. I don't like the idea of weapons being tied to attributes. Why can't I be a spear-chucker specced into intellect and fortitude for example.

If you play death is death, you definitely save-scum to save your own ass once in a while. You have to with this game. But I play Interloper difficulty in The Long Dark without ever quitting the game or uploading my save, and my current run is 120 days. If you'd ever played Interloper difficulty in that game, you'd know I'm good at adapting, especially since I never use save-game manipulation tactics.

How the hell do you guys get head shots with melee? I always try to like, line it up so the zombies are walking directly toward me. But when I go for the swing, they rotate, as though I moved slightly to the left and prompted this huge 45 degree turn from them.
With skill and smarts. I can get head shots using a bow from a long way away no issues. Timing x distance x movement speed x angle..

Quite easy if you use smarts rather then throwing ya hands up in a 2 yr old tanty and then coming on here whinging that you suck. But once you work out the above headshots become easier. Of course levelling up also helps improve your chances.

And tbh it won't matter how hard tfp make the zs some will always outsmart them and win without using spikes or Molotov as you state are needed.

Sounds like Christmas at my parents in law..
Haha

Definitely huh? lol Feels like i hit a nerve. I bet you're projecting your activities onto me. You save-Scum constantly therefore everyone else must too. I bet you're on the forums now because you had to quit The Long Dark because you were getting crushed. It's cool man, just take a breath and try again.

To hell with it... I'll try to play this game, and just start putting spike traps in doorways. I'm pissed off that I have to do that nowadays in the current build, but I'll do it regardless. When there comes a day that we can toggle on/off the damage shaving mechanic or the rage mode mechanic, I'll be happier. Melee will be viable again. I sure as hell won't degrade myself down to scavenger difficulty just to play the game without rage mode though. A certain pride has to be maintained. I literally platted the game on console in Insane/always run/feral. The entire game is good in Alpha 18 but what I'm really pissed about is just the addition of rage mode and shaving-damage mechanics. That's literally it. I'm sorry that I'm coming across as an intolerable ♥♥♥♥, but melee used to be so much more manageable, now I feel it is hardly viable. I'm always throwing spears when outdoors for fear of getting close to zombies, and now I won't even risk using a melee weapon inside a house.
Lmao stop comparing the master race to the slaves (aka pc against console) 2 totally different things the console will never handle what the pc can. The console is what a15 a14 ish the pc is a18. Go play console if that's all you can handle.

Fox what the hell are you talking about? I'm upset because I can't actually survive a death is death run on 7 days like I can on the long dark. It took me 50 tries, like 50 deaths on interloper before I finally got situated and got a correct run going. But I'm confident the same is not possible on 7 days to die, that's why there's a chart that keeps track of your deaths: They expect you to die and come back, and they've designed their game to facilitate that as much as possible.

I am thinking maybe he should play just solitaire and take a break from all these games that actually need skill.

Rage mode and shaving damage mechanics were just a way to make more people die to daylight scrub zombies. Both features are fine and welcome, but not when zombies move on a game world grid, turning 45 degrees whenever you step onto a new square of the grid.

No it was to give us a challenge during the day as most of us were outsmarting them .... to make the day time a difficult as the night

I've made it to day 13 without dying on Alpha 18, with several close calls. I used twin towers and molotovs to beat the first horde, with spike traps and barbed wire underneath. When I did die I was looting a house, and what killed me was a hardhat zombie that rotated 45 degrees and made me miss my headshot, but I still did shaving damage; He entered rage mode, stunned me, and beat me to death. A single hardhat zombie, just because he rotated 45 degrees while walking toward me.

Well you keep making excuses as to why i can 1-life 7dtd and you can't. You have to lie and pretend you know that i can't just be good at the game since that conflicts with your points. I find that annoying and i feel the need to call you out on it. If you are assumign i am cheating and exploiting systems to do so, that is a solid indicator that you do so yourself (aka projecting). Psychology 101 man.

I'm literally just saying that to balance these new changes they have to fix how zombies walk. This elementary school Minecraft-walking where they follow a grid doesn't mesh well with the new changes. Anyway, Stallion and fox, you two can go ♥♥♥♥ yourselves. Enjoy your lives of debt slavery and closet alcoholism.

Right now you're the one projecting in reaction to the fact that I predicted the method through which you handle death is death. I am way too prideful to save scum, I beat myself up about it for months trying to master Interloper difficulty. But I finally did it, and nobody can take that away from me. Especially not you.

That's a wonderful comparison of chalk and cheese.

If The Long Dark had zombie hordes attacking you once a week I'm pretty sure it would be much harder to survive, conversely, turning off zombies in 7dtd makes a death-is-death run trivial.

Personally I prefer the classic non-running zombies, it certainly makes surviving much easier. Set their max speed to Jog and it's a far more relaxing game.

While you guys are working for a living I'll be here living in the country, keeping fires stoked in the winter and enjoying leisure time with my wife every day. Some people are just more privileged than others and aren't required to engage in the triviality of a life of labor where they're ripped apart from their families every day in service of economic gain ^_^\m/ Some, however, are not more privileged. And are required to sell their lives, cognitive capacities, and familial relationships in pursuit of staying afloat economically. Why would I need to save scum, when I have all the time in the world to keep trying until I succeed? You have the weekend. That's it. It's okay to have less. Be appreciative of the limitations you have. They define you.

And please... I quit pot two years ago, because I had the time to devote to combating withdrawal symptoms. I'm proud of being clean from it, it was unbecoming of me to numb my irritations and mend my wounded sobriety with it. I got tons of therapy, overcame my psychological shortcomings, and nullified my need for consistent self-medication. Now I just cut out the toxic elements of my life which would, in the past, make me burn a bong load. This game in its current build is such an element, it does not reward adaptiveness or skill.

By the way, on a closing note: If you want to combat food poisoning early-game, put your first 2 skill points into living off the land and iron gut. You'll harvest 2 snowberries at a time and won't have any risk of poisoning from them, it'll keep you fed while you grind quests for the trader, you can supplement this with the purchase of food and drink from the vending machine. I tried to find a fix for the broken melee mechanics, but short of placing spike traps in doorways in a POI, or sticking exclusively to spear-throwing, I found nothing.

You're really lashing out. Sorry for striking a nerve so bad, but that's not a good reason to project your insecurities on others man.

I'm literally useless can't play 7 days to die so need to get the fun pimps to make it easy and boring for others so I can pretend to have skill and for those that have skill and can actually aim and shoot they are way better then I so I must offend them.
Ps: I was removed from breast feeding way to early
