Trouble Recording with OBS Studio -- Black Screen

Hey all.

I can use OBS to record games like Starcraft 2 or Neverwinter Nights just fine. And I used to be able to record 7D2D just fine. But in A17E I'm just getting a black screen -- might be the Unity update or something else.

Anyone had this problem or know of solutions?

negative... you might have something not set right although it should still work because it works for other games as you noted...

i say negative because of the amount of streamers on youtube and twitch and so forth and they are in a17.

i use obs for some streaming and i have no issue.

i dont know much about obs but you may want to offer more here about your issue and settings so maybe others here with more experience with it can help. good luck

-- apparently Display Capture would technically work but I'd like to be able to alt tab without losing game focus. Has anyone gotten Game Capture or Window Capture to work?

Historically, the overlays for OBS have not worked well if at all on the experimental builds. I remember this issue back in a16E

I had to redo my settings for 17e in windows and streamlabs OBS, linux version with basic obs had no issues.

Full screen capture doesn't work for me, window capture does.

Getting a windowed fullscreen option would be nice (although we seem to have that in linux by default, which is just fine with me)

I was getting the same black screen, although some of the menus would show.

I managed to fix it by unchecking "Allow Transparency" in the capture config.

In OBS if you play 7DTD in windowed mode and then use the window capture feature and expand it to be the whole screen you should be good to go. I've had no issues with 7DTD and OBS working together.
