can't seem to ban on a xbox series x ....

Tried

did: ban list   (which gave the alleged method to do it)

ban until 2 year theplayerxboxname

ban until 2 year theplayerxboxname

ban 2 year - theplayerxboxname

ban theplayernamexboxname 2 year

trying to keep  player from logging in on my public server... player even blocked on xbox profile, but they just use unternal search and know the settings i had in talk at an earlier time and look for them, then joins... then sends me party invites and basically trolling.

help ban:

*** Command(s): ban ***
Set/get ban entries. Bans will be automatically lifted after the given time.
Usage:
   ban add <name / entity id / platform + platform user id> <duration> <duration unit> [reason] [displayname]
   ban remove <name / entity id / platform + platform user id>
   ban list
To use the add/remove sub commands with a name or entity ID the player has
to be online, the variant with platform and platform ID can be used for currently offline
users too.
Duration unit is a modifier to the duration which specifies if in what unit
the duration is given. Valid units:
    minute(s), hour(s), day(s), week(s), month(s), year(s)
Displayname can be used to put a descriptive name to the ban list in addition
to the user's platform ID. If used on an online user the player name is used by default.
Example: ban add madmole 2 minutes "Time for a break" "Joel"

********************************************************************

ban add playerxboxname 2 years "not welcome here" (when player online)

ban add XBL_blablabla 2 years "not welcome here" (when player offline)

Is the quotes and comments and response required? Can I just say ban player indefinitely without a need to tell them?

They know what they did. Seems like reminding them is like rubbing in their face.

I just prefer the old passive aggressive method.. lol

No. That is optional. All you need for sure is the player ID and length of time.

I will note that you can only use player name or entity ID if they are present in your world. Otherwise you will need to use the long XBL ID.

hmm... i have to add a correction, while the command accepted the input of:

Ban Add XBL_ThePlayer 1 year ""

and then it added but in brackets within the accepting command it had the player listed as "unknown"

I added the Underscore between XBL and ThePlayer  "  _  "  as presented.

Then the player later on after my post on Friday - logged onto my server. at that point i simply did command:  Ban Add ThePlayer 1 year ""

Then the game / console added it to the ban list and it completely did something different in the ban list; it added:  EOS_00244uhiurehgi543fge  (ThePlayer)

So it tried on the other person (his friend) to the ban list:

Ban Add EOS_2ndPlayer 1 year ""

But the above command didn't accept; said it was an invalid input.

Seems it only accepts EOS long string numbers and letters??

Both players are XBox players as well; and my CrossPlay in my settings is turned off, only allowing XBox players... so it seems this XBL_ThePlayer  doesn't actually work.

if only EOS is accepted, how do i get a player's EOS string, especially if they're offline.. and do i type it in manually type that in? is it possible to copy and paste it into the console.

Banning players shouldn't be this difficult??
