How can Fun Pimps do this, Do you have no respect, Do you think it is funny mocking JESUS like this. The bicycle and JESUS. How can i play this game knowing that fun pimps think it is OK to use lines like this.
This is the SON OF GOD. And i love JESUS. Why do you have to do this, games are to be fun and not mocking their religion.
What will happen if Fun Pimps mock the other religions.
 
What's the actual context of the complaint? From OP I'd guess bob utters "christ on a bike" at some point, but I don't think a follower of christ would have trouble turning the other cheek at that...? So that's prolly not it, can someone explain? Just out of morbid curiosity, of course... :)
 
This is a game we want to enjoy, And if any of the above comments, knew JESUS then you will understand. Why is there not alla from the Moslem religion in any of the lines or any other religion. If I insult someone you love, will also say other cheek. Why don't Fun pimps just leave religion out of this game.
 
Easy solution. Uninstall. Problem gone. So easy.

Since you didn't elaborate, I'm assuming I was correct to assume you're upset over a single voice line. That is not an "attack on religion", that's a character using a common phrase. Nothing is even implying that "Bob" is a Good Guy (tm), that voice line is just how the dude speaks, might be there to indicate exactly that he's a godless fella... They do exist you know.

If you can't get over that, the voice lines are moddable, go right ahead. Or indeed, just uninstall. Refunds are unlikely with such a complaint.

I wonder if turning ON the Profanity Filter in the Audit Settings removes that particular statement? I could see why it might not be considered profanity, or how it might.

Christ is a title, much like Messiah.
The title Christ is not exclusive to Jesus.

Are you also mad at Shotgun Messiah? It's not a name for Jesus, so you can get those panties unbunched now and move on.
 
I think the offending dialog is this:

trader_bob_sale_declined_03,UI,Subtitles,,,"You're so cheap, you wouldn't give a duke to see Jesus ridin' a bicycle."

Thus, by editing this line in sounds.xml:

Such that trader_bob_sale_declined_03 (in both places) became use 02 instead, you would have eliminated the behavior found offensive.

This should be a very simple modlet to make.

I also see this in the same file:

Showing an alternative approach... how to mark that saying as profanity so the profanity filter would remove it. You could make a Pimp Dream or a bug report saying... "trader_bob_sale_declined_03" should be defined as profanity.

In researching this, I learned that Jen can say things considered to be profanity. I always thought she was such a nice girl. She had me fooled.
 
I put in the issue as a bug report, suggesting it could be considered profanity. If they agree, and apply the change, then the profanity filter should hide it from those who care.

As a Christian, I just ignore it. I don't even hear what he says because it is all garbage anyhow. If you don't like how he talks, turn on the filter for him in the options. But your post is hardly an appropriate way to discuss the issue as a Christian.

It is a title, yes. Though can you honestly say that it isn't referring to Jesus? I would say it is clearly referencing him. Who else holds that title? In any case, it should be caught by the filter. Not sure if it is or not since I've never enabled the filter. If it isn't, then they should add it to the filter because it really isn't the best thing to have in the game if it is offensive to people. I'm not sure I've actually heard it myself, but I ignore everything Rekt says.

Not going to ask where you draw it, but do you Have a line? A point at which you'll choose to say "no" when someone claims offense?

We’re going to lock the thread, because of our rule C3 against discussing figures, ideas, etc. with real world religious significance. We do this because politics and religion are too contentious to debate on an internet game forum like ours.

However, we seek to balance that with the common sense principle that people should be able to comment on the things the developers put into the game. So your comments will stay visible for the developers and others to see. If a developer wants to respond to your feedback, they’ll still be able to post despite the lock.
