PC Thoughts on the gyro copter

My safe pass is usually driving around on my minibike in A16, Usually I drive away a bit, get off the bike, gank zombies for a bit toe to toe, then if I get into trouble (low hp) hop on bike, speed away heal up and repeat it. Lets be honest, if you were in this situation irl there is no way your going to stand toe to toe with them, your going to seek higher ground or a way to get free cheapshots on them. High ground in combat is almost always a advantage even in human vs human battles.
True.

Personally I'm not a big fan of digging/underground Zombies, i rather see a "Sanity" system that decreases when you are underground/indoors too long and fight or harvest zombies but increases when you are outdoor, at campfire and eat cooked food.

Apart from that i have no problem with letting the players find ways to escape, like vehicles or digging a hole.

But building a functional gyro copter should be end game material just because its harder build and drive than a minibike.

It would be nice if the gyro copters flight ability is based on a combination on the quality of the parts, skill of building and skill of flying.

even if you are find great parts you might only get a 1-2 block elevation. Because you suck at building and flying :D

The copter seems to me the least problem of all the vehicles for a balanced horde night. Vultures plus cop puke will probably make any flight a short flight. If you got copter you also got 4x4 and that seems the much safer option on horde night (if we assume no further changes than what is known)

My guess is that in 1.0 at the latest driving around to avoid the horde night will not be possible or difficult, but some other possibilites will be in the game. For example get good reputation with the Duke or White River, or pay a lot of money for a safe place. But eventually safety on horde night must come at a prize.

I have a hard time figuring out how they can make active penalties for fleeing without it interfering with day to day game play.

To shoot a copter down the cop need to have heatseeking puke! :)

But!!!... if there is loot that you only can get from horde zombies you will have to choose. Get that sweet loot or stay safe!

They would need it to be heatseeking puke as they generally won't hit you if your constantly walking, I worry more about their suicide rush when on low health than getting hit by the puke.

I watched the a17 video from Skippy and he went through the requirements for the gyrocopter.... it isnt an end game thing at alllll. It requires a good amount of resources, but theyre resources you can definitely get by the day 21 horde at the very latest i feel. Im definitely interested to see someone mess with it

A small fuel tank is the obvious solution. No need to harm general viability with high fuel consumption. Setting it down to top up fuel would keep hordes 'interesting'.

Looking at where it is in the perk tree, your going to need to be character level 100 or so before you can make one. Assuming all tier 5 perks need lv 100 (due to needing 10 in the stat which is lv 100). By that point, you'll probally not have much use for the gyrocopter anymore and its more for fun.

IMO players should always have an option to excape the horde, I myself don't really bother with the horde as its just a waste of resources, even more so in a17 with the lack of drops from them. I can't see myself honestly bothering to find one in a17 unless the chance of loot is vastly upped, maybe 25-40% chance per zombie. Its just a waste of resources and too risky for the return.
