PC This forum needs a meta board. And some serious moderating reconsiderations.

I had a small conversation about this with the frequent movements of all the video threads that were seemingly exploding in general, yet all were moved to Images/Videos forums that nobody ever looks at, I actually was very pissed those threads got moved.
Really? I was very pleased with that. I don't come here to watch other peoples' Lets Plays, if I wanted to, I would go to the video forum. They're not discussion.

The only video posts I think should stay here are the ones showing AI and glitches and whatnot.

I got an infraction and banned for 3 days by: *********.

They weren't even a moderator, and it still sits in my list like a :first:

good times.

I do wish more people would use the "New Posts" functionality. It's my first "go to" place when I hit the forums.

Ya, but I wish it was possible to filter out certain sections... cuz I often get mixed up in console topics which I have no reason to post in. Not to mention the pages worth of topics in sections that don't interest me at all but have to sift through in order to find the ones I am interested in.

True, I wouldn't mind being able to filter what shows up in New Posts, but it's still worth being the "first stop" on my forums visit.

If the suggestions forum is quiet....it's not the fault of the forum layout.
It's the fault of the forum population.
If the majority does not use a feature in a system, it is not the majority's fault. It is obviously the system that is badly designed.

You can't force ppl to be interested in something they're not.

No one is claiming that the "system" as you call it, is perfect. It has flaws, just like any other forum site out there. But sometimes, things are just best left alone as often times, you just end up doing more harm than good. I think the Rules page is a perfect example of that.

Every so often, on this forum and one other I post to, my posts get moved or some action taken and what I can say with 100% certainty is:

1. To this day, I never really understood why the action was taken.

2. I 100% was not bothered in any way shape or form.

Its just a forum. Chill. :)

In my experience people who have gotten banned say they did nothing wrong but seem to omit for forget details. Not saying it don't happen but I tend to hold banned peoples protests of innocence with skepticism.

I've never used the new msg button, don't even know where it is.
Says "new posts" along the top right with the rest of the links and such.

There is truth to this. The problem is proving that it is truly the majority not using it or just some.

Like Stackoverflow's meta, or Reddit's /r/announcements. A place where users can discuss, ask questions and file complaints about the forum itself, and its policies and moderation.
Because the mods here are often way overboard enacting inane policies without sense or reason or oversight or justification. They don't educate, inform and adjust, they just have a move/delete hammer, and everything looks like a nail.

Successful, happy, helpful, lively and friendly forums don't move everything that could be vaguely described as a question, image, suggestion or support request to some tiny, dead subforums that nobody reads.

First, it really pisses off the thread creators to have their post moved to oblivion.

Second, it makes the General Discussion forum slow and boring. Most people will miss most interesting suggestions and questions, as it seems it's still the same old threads from yesterday on top.

Third, it creates a toxic environment where most of the threads in General Discussion are complaints, because they're about the only type of message that doesn't get moved. Do you really want new members or prospective customers who check out the forums to only read complaints about the game? I didn't think so.

Finally, you also need to do something about those 3000+ page abominations of dev diary threads. It's insanely long, nobody can read through all that ♥♥♥♥ scouring for relevant information. It's disrespectful to your users.

You should take a hint from Paradoxplaza. They have a weekly fresh new Dev Diary thread which is the main source of new information on the development of each of their games. They come out on fixed days of the week, so the fans have something to look forward to. Also, they have a "show dev comments only" button in every thread to filter out the rabble.

You're welcome.
All I can say is fill out this form and submit it to your nearest trashcan: Butthurt Report Form V1.jpg

I once got a "Reversed" from Fox a long time ago (I believe that's some sort of wrestling move).

Well... how does Fallout's forum work?Just kidding.
If you mean Fo76, i've been there its a disaster, its way more of a mess than here thats for sure, I mean the entire first page and half the second is stickies.

Personally, I'm not opposed to different views and constructive criticism.

Unfortunately, the OP ruined his / her point completely by ending it with "you're welcome".

Up until that point it was a reasonably good post perhaps with some minor inaccuracies etc but good. After that statement I'm just put off.

"you get more bees with beer than you do with vinegar"

If all of the specific sections were moved above general discussion, half of these problems would be solved.People come here, and general is easiest and quickest to post in.
No, because then your "important discussion that just has to be seen so you posted in General Discussion instead of the correct sub-section" wouldn't be seen because it would scroll off of the first page in a couple of hours.

And by your own suggestions people are too dim to go look in the correct sections that are clearly stated in the main hub. What makes you think they're going to take extra effort to go looking at page 3 or 5 of General Discussion.

The thread moving issue was better solved by merging the 50 threads on the same topic I'm this thread.
Yeah, no then everyone complains about their topic being "different" and special somehow. Even though it isn't.

I've never used the new msg button, don't even know where it is.
Lol yeah!

Never even heard of it till now.

But now that I know about it....

I'll probably still ignore it because you can't filter Console out.

I know right, that console board is so active I can hardly find any 'real' posts.

I disagree on this part.

Everyone posts in those sections but almost nobody reads. :smile-new:

And can a question about how to best build a doomfort also not general discussion anyways? These terms can be interpreted differently by different people and even moderators.

-POST IN THE RIGHT SECTION OR NOBODY WILL SEE IT CLAIMS-

If nobody cares about what you have to say- is the only way it slips to page 2 on general, because there isn't THAT much going on here. Nothing like WoW general forums anyways.

If you make a post- "hi my name is steve and I like to play 7 days to die" and that's like all your post is you won't get many respon....

on 2nd thought around here that would be pretty funny and people would probably turn that joke thread into a 1000 page saga :fat:

Not in complete disagreement here on everything stated, you mods have to mod, and it seems done well nuff round here. I just like to offer the other side of views to make everyone more understanding of one anothers (what may seem to be unreasonable stances).

But all this hippie talk about understanding and loving one another has enraged me. I must find survivors and fart explode next to them!
