PC The save file is gone and there are no cloud saves.

My friend and I just progressed normally, but I deleted my Windows save and forgot to reset it. I thought the cloud save would load it, but it didn't. I don't even have a button (I can't continue the game, and if I click new game, it's empty).
 
I feel for you. Losing a save really sucks.
.. Out of the things I've played, I find this game to be one of the more-fun ones to start over.. and if you really want to play with those late game tools, there's the god mode tools and whatnot- you could spawn in a 4x4, a tank of gas, some weapons, concrete, materials, and whatever and be like..
"So the story is, we didn't lose everything, we just moved in a hurry and had to leave some old stuff behind."

To be sure, ALWAYS check if Steam Cloud storage in your Generic tab in options for any game. If there is no toggle to turn it on, it doesnt exist.
 
Also, if you have a spare storage device, I HIGHLY suggest utilizing Windows' file history. You'll want to manually point it to you game save folders in appdata (don't do the whole appdata, as you will fill that drive up instantly lol). Even if you throw away your OS drive, you can restore from File History right where they were before when you install a new one.

I also still like the old Windows 7 Backup and Restore.
