PC The recent changes to Trader Jen's model and the 1.0 trader voice changes.

First, I'd like to thank everyone for continuing this thread. It
inspired me to go back and look at the evolution of the traders.
I decided to look at the alphas as evolutionary generations.

It became a bit comical to me, as I cruised through timeline.

For 14 generations there were no traders to be seen, Just me and the walking
dead. Those were some lonely times indeed.

Then in the fifteen generation, 5 males and an ambiguous one, simply called Test
sprung into being. They were Bob, Jimmy, Hugh, Rekt, Joel, and Test. I said to myself
what kind of name is test.

Joel was instantly set apart, and is was a follower of the WhiteRiver faction, but
all signs in the game label Joel as a Traitor in the story.

Ahh...but I nearly forgot, before all of these, was Caitlin, she was deemed never to be
seen, by the light of day, in vanilla, and thus was made to wait until Darkness Falls, I
oft have wondered why.

So after an inhouse vote, two generations later, Jimmy was painfully cut and Jen Lung the
active and ever friendly physician was created.

So if you had to choose, would you want, "Caitlin, Jen, OR" as your doctor?

The split personalities between, Rekt, Bob, Jimmy and Hugh are all Ric's ID,
it explains a lot.

Jen has actually inspired Cosplay, why don't people want to cosplay Rekt?

My only issues with the new visual is, firstly, that her eyes give the impression that she's either over-caffeinated, sampling some of her medicines, or trying to hide how stunned she is that I managed to live as long as I have, and secondly, that my worlds are so much more toxin-filled than others that it's causing her hair to fall out and thin so extremely that it's like you can see through it. Props to her hair-care routine that she maintains such volume even in spite of that, though.

It's very probable to have been caused by my mods, but last time I messed with them, I borked a hundred-day playthrough so I'm not going to tinker with that.

A17-18 ish.

That was actually Trader Caitlin. AFAIK she was last seen in (vanilla) A16, but I could be wrong.

Not that it matters. She was one of the old UMA models, so it's unreasonable for TFP to bring her back, since UMA is cut from the game.

Also - I've heard people complain about recent voice changes to Jen. I have no idea what you're talking about. The first female who voiced Jen (Martha Harms, also voiced Maya in Borderlands) still voices Jen.

Maybe they added voice lines, but there are a lot of voice lines, so I assumed I just didn't get through all of them. If I'm wrong, what lines are the problem?

There are a couple, maybe a few, voice lines of Jen's that they re-recorded. Still Harms, same words, but the intonation is different. I prefer the old lines.

I'm pretty critic and I am very suspicious of change, but It feels they are not really significant in this case, if I'm being honest.
It would be another thing if they gave her the uglification treatment, but It is pretty evident they were very respectful to the character's traits as much as they were able.
This subject is not worthy of 3 pages of discussion or more dev time spent, of course in my humble opinion.

@Jost Amman
That reminds me of Dying Light, when the female announcer would give the night warning
on the radio, and the salutation. But expanded. That is, in both games, kind of a comfort food
for the mind. For me. Not just with Jen but with each of the traders. A salutation over a portable
radio, would kind of break the silence. Like at the end of a horde. A salutation following or at the
same time as the morning stinger.
