PC The pain to report a bug

Hey friends,

I've completed my registration to report a bug with the game. In  V1.2 b27 half of the missions are not to complete. I am an armlength away from the last yellow dot, but no enemies anymore. Nowhere. Again and again. And so i thought it would be a good idea to report it.

What i did not expect is the effort that you want from me. Do screenshots in a special way? Collect files and informations? And even host the images by myself?

One should think that in the 21st century all these things can be done with one button click. One should think that somebody who earns money with a game should at least be able to have a forum where you can attach images. Or a proper bug tracker. Bugzilla or Gitea for example.

So i decided to stop here. For me it's not worth the effort and hassle. My time is valuable. When you put me so much barrers into my way then i am not interested in even helping you.

Good luck with the game development and kind regards

Yeh, IMO they should do better with the bug process, in a couple of ways; but this is what they've done for the most of the dev cycle, I doubt they're willing to change now.

But that quest issue has at least been seen before, and gotten fixes over time, so I'd assume it's on their radar at the very least.

I think most of us agree that it's a convoluted process.  However, it does provide them with the necessary information to help find the problems so they can be fixed.  If you look at most of the initial posts in the support forum, you'll see how people tend to report problems if they aren't required to do so in a specific way.  No logs, very little detail, and often nothing that could in any way help someone to help them or find the cause of the problem.  Take a look and you'll see what I mean.  And I'm referring to the first post made in a topic, not later posts after they provide additional information after being asked questions.  So the process they require is actually useful, even if it's a bit of a pain.

In any case, the quest problems have mostly been fixed.  The last one that was still being reporting in 1.2 was fixed in 1.3.

Btw, once you've posted a certain number of times (I forget the number, but it's low), you can post images to the forum without hosting them.  You'll see this at the bottom of your post, and can even just use Ctrl-V to paste them if you have them copied.  The image you see below is pasted directly into the post as an example.  The limitation for new users helps to limit spam posts of images.image.png

Many thanks for the information.

I find it still unnecessarily complicated. It goes much easier. You can setup one of the common issue trackers. I am of course aware of the not helpful reports in the stlye of "hey it is broken, fix it". I regularly deal with this kind of stuff too. I know both ends. But i don't think that it helps to make the bug reporting hard to access and complicated for the user.

I will say that the first couple times you do it, it seems complicated, but after that, you realize it isn't a big deal.  A log, screenshots if needed, computer and game info, and description of the problem, including what is happening and what you think should be happening.

That isn't to say that it couldn't be easier, but just that it isn't as bad as it seems at first.

As far a pastebin, it just makes it far easier to read the log.  Lots are huge and scrolling down an entire log in the forum is a pain.  It just makes sense and it's very easy to use.

Sure it is a bug that has been reported a bunch of times, but have you considered imthat it is how you are tackling the missions?

I haven't run into this issue since 1.0, and 1 of the times it was because I didn't know you have to turn off the flame jets in an area.
