The missed post from woodle

Just remembered this...back on Dec 30th @madmole said this:
We are working on bandits and will start previewing some stuff real soon. We'll announce an updated roadmap too. I think we might even start putting previews of what's coming in the news launcher so anyone playing the game will know everything that's coming without getting on social media.
be great if they followed up on that stuff

He also streamed but already had some videos showing off stuff made before he streamed. His streams are just a normalish run using the new settings. It would've been about half of that video that needed to be removed, or maybe less depending on if they only wanted bandits edited out or also the section on the chicken coop.

The issue, to me at least, is as I stated before. That video's title and thumbnail, and half of its content, were about bandits and the chicken coop and made it seem as if they were going to be coming in 3.0. Bandits obviously are not going to be in, and the coop may not be in till a point patch after. It isn't confirmed for 3.0 yet at the very least, so it just looks bad on Woodle for framing that video the way he did. I can't say if he just did it for clicks, or if he wanted to cause drama. But he had to know that video wasn't gonna be liked by TFP. And yes, TFP made a mistake and left bandits in that initial build. As I said before, if he had just found them and been like "Hey guys, look at the progress they've made on bandits. They will be pretty cool when finished." or something like that I doubt they would've minded as much, but maybe they still would have. But when the title of the video is "7 Days to Die 3.0 Is WAY BIGGER Than I Expected" with a thumbnail pointing at bandits and the coop, that's just false advertising on his part. Ignorance can't be claimed either as the release notes were already there and no mention of coops or bandits.
I find the whole incident like dropping my wallet on the subway.

I wish discussions on actual content received as much interest as when we all argue with each other.
When discussion gain interest the loudmouths foist their rigid opinions and turn the place into a mosh pit when someone disagrees. Forum moderators play along with the bullies so you learn pretty quick not to bother spending quality time a post since you will either be shamed for it or it will be removed. So, 3 word quips and group think seem to be the widely accepted norm

Given the level of stupidity some of the bandits have shown, there will still be people who are disappointed.

I don’t believe any footage of bandits or any mod using the bandit models has utilized the AI behavior Faatal has planned. But even so…I agree that there will always be folks who are disappointed in the gap between their expectations and reality. Faatal could possibly make a breakthrough and bring better behaving NPCs than any game before and in a short while the patterns and flaws would become evident and exploitable.

Their only stated goal is to have enemies that are better than simply zombies with guns and I think that will be achievable. Anyone who expects miracles beyond that is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Over the years, I’ve read a number of posts about all the things the bandits are supposedly capable of—things that are just unrealistic, like them raiding your base while you’re in another part of the map.

Yeah, that one is particularly stupid. TFP could do that now without any physical bandit models in the game—just randomly destroy part of your base and delete some items in your chest while you are logged off or away. But, I really doubt that will ever be a thing. TFP would want the confrontation to happen so if bandits attacking your base even turns out to be in the plan, it would almost certainly only happen when you are there to defend.

It’s not like TFP is trying to simulate the most common tactic on PVP servers….

Forgive me, but, I think that the farthest I could stretch that would be: It's like someone dropped a $20 with their name written on it.

It's way different than dropping your wallet...You can steal my whole Identity with the info in my wallet. TFP didn't lose any info.
Sorry if I am being too literal.

I do agree that it is like TFP dropped a $20...and it did have their deets on it...but, they ended up getting $100 because of all the people who saw the drama about the $20. So are they really out anything? at all?

Even if it all was a big mistake...just an accident...I think the smart move would be to just let this one go as fast as possible...they'll lose that good free PR they gained for nothing, by doing something petty to "punish" the "■■■■ storm" guy.

Regardless of the Woodle's intentions, he does have somewhat of a 4D chess advantage here I reckon. Strike down the ban hammer, and any momentum of goodwill they have going for them now will be gone. They'll be right back to where they used to be. I have a feeling that BI don't have them off the leash, anyway. It may not be up to them, and given the potential bad PR, it's best for BI/TFP to just let this one go and be especially careful on sending codes in the future.
