The LBD theyre introducing isnt what I wanted or had in mind.

The whole thing when LBD was mentioned to be making a return, I was excited. I thought "Oh its going to be a hybrid system where magazines are still there for items and recipes, but the action skills are going to be LBD."

That was confirmed to not be the case. And the thing I was specifically excited for and hoping for, that being action skills being LBD, is not being a thing. The new crafting system SOUNDS good, but oh my lord I'm so BORED of only Point Buy system. I wanted to watch my character grow as they got better with weapons again.

"Use a mod" my friends are on console and are all huge fans of the old LBD system for combat and action and things. I'm so frustrated with this decision that I'm just considering uninstalling. I get it RPG system story mode blah blah blah. So what? The LBD we had in the beginning is one of the most fun systems I've personally interacted with. I've used mods on Minecraft, Vintage Story, etc. To replicate the system I experienced in the legacy console edition. When I saw LBD was making a return, and that Joel specifically didn't want people scratching on cactus to upgrade items, the only thing I could imagine was that means that action skills are returning, but not crafting like before.

Idk guess stupid me for getting my hopes up. Anyways, thanks for listening to my rant because when I read what was said and IzPrebuilt's video, I was just so frustrated.

Yeah, believing they were going to scrap the whole point buy system and go all the way back to A16 style LBD was probably an unrealistic expectation.

On the bright side having it be an alternate path to magazines will allow people who want less reliance on scavenging to be able to play that way once again.

I actually like it fewer books. Maybe it’s not exactly what I wanted, but it’s a good compromise. If I want, I can just look for a mod someone will probably make one and now it will be much easier for modders.

Hello! I've been playing this game for a while now, and I'd like you to try, to add horses. It could be a nice addition, and it would look fantastic. I understand it's difficult to implement, and probably it will not interest you. However, I hope you'll read this letter and consider adding these magnificent animals.

After this I'm sure TFP will now rewrite the entire level-up system for the next release.
The last thing they want is for you to uninstall their game from your computer.

However, if they'll change everything back to LBD, I will be uninstalling the game from my computer.
Kind of an impasse, don't you think?

You could both fight and whoever wins gets their preferred one

Indeed, in my opinion, the main problem of the old LBD system was crafting, creating a million wooden clubs and the like. But the weapon proficiency improvement system was great. Don't you want players to upgrade their armor skill by rubbing against cacti? Make the armor skill only increase NPC damage and stamina expenditure when wearing armor, is it really that difficult?... But I'm glad at least that they promise to reduce the number of magazines, it really annoys me to find a magazine in every second container and press "A" to read it, I want to rob everything quickly by pressing "R" and take it to the shelter so that I can figure out what I need and what I don't need. This is an apocalypse, not a library simulator.

From A17 till 1.0 lots of LBD/realism liking players stopped playing/uninstalled 7 days because of how bad game became from lots of unexplainable decisions, but who cared at that moment........

For any game it is perfectly normal to have ex players who used to play and have now uninstalled. What is often forgotten is that there are now more players who never played A16 than there ever were players at the time of A16. Most current players don't even pay attention to the drama that unfolds online. If there were realism/LBD liking players who left and never came back as you claim then they were easily replaced and exceeded by players who never played LBD and have only ever known skillpoint spending.

Also, feel free to ask me about any decisions made from A17 to 1.0 and I'll be happy to explain them to you....

I probably don’t care and will use a mod anyway, but don’t you think it’s unfair? Whether it’s a minority or not, some people have been playing for a very long time. For those players who liked that system, there should at least be a ‘learn by doing’ option for them. You can’t just disregard the old players just because there are more new ones. The veterans deserve it who knows how long a new player will actually stick with the game? Those who have been playing for a long time probably will never stop, while at the same time, many new players will likely leave. The veterans should have just as much fun with the game as those who’ve been playing for a shorter time.

Well then i am wrong as i see! Anyway the amount of LBD players left is much more, than the amount of LBR players planning to leave the game in the forum sections

From how it sounds/my understanding, your ability to craft better weapons will be raised --much like when reading magazines-- when you fight and use said weapons[Fight with shotguns, learn to build better shotguns].. and the same logic would then be applied to cooking, using meds, harvesting with tools, etc. I think magazines themselves are also supposed to get a droprate nerf.

I'd be kinda happy with a relatively simple nod towards "Action skill LBD", just have a 1-100 bar to fill up via "damage done" with the simple effect of getting a 0-20% or 0-50% damage buff (50% sounds more than it is, as we have stacks of +percentages already). Wouldn't really have to interact with the skill point system; that would be optimal for me, but there'd be angry people.. :P
