PC The burnt biome cons more difficult than the snow biome. Burnt gets two skulls, desert one, and the snow a skull and a half

I don't quite understand why I paid attention to that this morning.  I like to  explore. That's why I create so many random gens

 
You must have been within the limits of a POI or something. Open areas in the burnt forest always con half a skull for me.

 
You guys are Confusing me with the use of Con in this this Context. I get what you're saying, but is that .. actual english? "shows"?

When you enter a new biome, you get a notification with up to two skulls on it. the more skulls the more dangerous the biome is. The forest biome doesn't have any, they burnt biome has a half a skull. The blasted biome has two full skulls. I don't know what the desert is, accept it it is more dangerous now than it was prior to V1.

Desert is 1.  Snow is 1.5.  It goes up half a skull per biome. 

He wasn't confused about the skulls.  "Con" in this context is not used at least where I am from and apparently where he is from.  That was the confusion.  I just ignored the word and moved on and knew what you intended it to mean.

The ways I've seen it used are to mean a negative (something you don't like), a criminal, to trick someone (usually in an illegal or immoral way), or to know something, though the latter is something I've probably only read in books and not heard anyone actually say out loud.  But not in the way you used it here.

I think once the biome storm update will come then the bimes will be much more difficult and harder to me the burnt foresr ain't that bad

No it's not. That's why I visited trader Bob today and then turn around and came back because I want to explore the burnt biome a little more. 

Makes me wonder what they're going to do for the weather there. Are we going to going to have two hot biomes?

My guess is blowing ash storms. Possibly just massively reducing visibility. Taking damage seems inappropriate given biome difficulty level. But that's just my guess. 🤷‍♂️

 
Must add, the returning of burnt biome brings back the game to its proper place.

Building a base right now there, near wasteland and snow biomes. Feels like proper apocalypse.

If my memory serves me correctly, and it very well might not, it is an abbreviation of "considers", as in the mob you are looking at considers you hostile. I've seen this before but can't remember where. Might have been Everquest or something of that ilk a long time ago.

But that doesn't really fit the sentence.  The biome won't consider something more difficult and "always [consider] half a skull for me." doesn't fit either.  I think "seems" is more accurate to how it's being used by both people (not counting Roland who just tossed it into a sentence ;)  ).  But I have no idea how or why "cons" would start being used as a synonym for "seems."   Any linguists around?  :D

Perhaps I'm remembering it backwards and it was You consider It hostile? Not sure. But it was a command to determine the hostility of the target and perhaps difficulty. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure it is being used correctly. It's just archaic gamer slang. Your interpretation of it meaning "seems" in this context is accurate though.

Yep, it was absolutely Everquest.  Con was short for Consider, which was targeting an enemy to determine if it was above/even/below your level, and whether or not it was hostile to you.

 
To me "con" is ""con sonar ".  Same difference, what is the threat/id/o fudge threat level.

Anyone remember Silent Service?

Heh... A "conning tower" is basically a raised platform or area where the officers on subs or ships "control" the ship.  Certain positions, like sonar, can be part of that area and so "con sonar" (or "conn sonar") refers to the sonar personnel there.  It isn't specifically about threat identification but just short for control or similar wording. It's basically just referring to controlling the ship/sub and sonar is just one aspect of that.  Sonar itself is used for thread identification, of course.

 
Wel yes, but usually "con sonar" phrase is the sonar has signature, then Captain Kirk or some other will say "what is it".

It is short for "contact sonar"
