I haven't suffered through the leveling far enough long to unlock the perks to make stamina and harvesting damage adequate to gather sufficient materials to build a big base to find out it was a waste of time since they'll just point-focus one weak spot and tunnel in. Sorry for the run on sentence, but I felt it better illustrated my point and lack of interest.I am curious how large everyone's base builds are now. I used to make large complexes that would be above and below ground and have bloodmoon horde killing areas. Now i just live in a box until horde night and go to my maze/trap area to ride the night out.
I have, though I did it online with some folks that liked to party up for blood moon. That feels like cheating the system, but I'll tell you this.. It STILL feels like a slog to get there. I don't know how anyone does it offline. If I was playing offline, I would have already ditched A17.I haven't suffered through the leveling far enough long to unlock the perks to make stamina and harvesting damage adequate to gather sufficient materials to build a big base to find out it was a waste of time since they'll just point-focus one weak spot and tunnel in. I'm not sure whether you'll consider it a positive or not, but it is quite easily possible to build a base in A17 that is very easily defended. Now, to be sure, that's "cheesing" (exploiting? taking advantage?) of current Zombie AI, but defendable bases exist in A17.I haven't suffered through the leveling far enough long to unlock the perks to make stamina and harvesting damage adequate to gather sufficient materials to build a big base to find out it was a waste of time since they'll just point-focus one weak spot and tunnel in. I'm sure there is. But I've read that it means tricking the zombie AI into stalling on a ramp or funneling through a maze of traps. Which is about as cheesy as it gets. One guy had a video where he just stood on a stack of wooden frames next to his mouse trap.I'm not sure whether you'll consider it a positive or not, but it is quite easily possible to build a base in A17 that is very easily defended. My big bases in A16 were typically over 100,000 reinforced concrete blocks, bedrock to skybox with ramparts, double moats, ringed & double claimed perimeter and successive drawbridge entrances. I wasn't defending against zombies. What a useless post.
In my default settings game I am on day 27 and have been living and fighting BM from the large junkyard POI upgraded with primarily scrap iron, barbwire and iron bars. I haven't used a pickaxe so far this playthrough. Easily able to build up 1000s of Iron to build with using just Salvage Ops and a good wrench. 500 stacks of pipes fuel the forge.
U never played pvp right ? well u missed alot of fun there. If some one says hes not building against zombies hes probably building against humansOh, Creative Mode. I misunderstood.... I think cm is still a thing.

Not so very large yet.
Bottom floor is meatgrinder and courtyard , in reinforced concrete.
Second floor is for repairing the meatgrinder during horde, in cobblestone.
Third floor is living quarters and perimeter catwalks, in wood and flagstone.
Meatgrinder (5 bladetraps) are triggered by motion sensor and triggerplates,
to save power and reduce noise. Also placed the generator away from the
living quarters to reduce it's noise.
It's still a bit too small for my taste, but it does a very good job dealing with the hordes.
Maybe i keep it as a horde base, and build a larger one somewhere else.
Nice. This is what I was looking for.Central tower (9x9) stand on a massive concrete foundation until bedrock![]()
Single player, so PVE,
default settings
99,9% legit^^
Nope, I am a completely new player, A17 in. Which is why I have a hard time understanding all the salt. I'm a noob and have had no problem gaining what I consider ridiculous amounts of building material within first couple weeks. At least 200-300 reinforced concrete blocks, 200 Iron Bars and 18k scrap iron in the bank...... without using a pick. I'm sure a veteran dedicating time to gather could far outdo that on higher difficulty, if they can get past the salt....U never played pvp right ? well u missed alot of fun there. Question is for what? You can't defend against other players now, with 1 claim block limit. Zeds never been a real challenge and never will. No matter how big you build in current conditions, you would have to waste alot of time on repairs/resupply after every bloodmoon. What is the point in building a base that doesnt help you survive, but only makes surviving grindier?Nope, I am a completely new player, A17 in. Agreed. I can assume the LCB limit is what would actually affect PVP-players more. However, my point is that it doesn't actually take a stupid amount of effort to gather the material if you use all the options available.Question is for what? The problem is that as soon as you are on a server with at least allowed PVP you need to build different.I intend to to a large one to prove that you can still build big in A17.
Almost have the kinks worked out of my defense system.
I'm not going to cheese the AI, I don't think it's needed.
What I can say for sure is that if I'm going to build legit, I have to accept that it's going to take at least 50% longer.
So what used to be a 60 day build is now going to take 90.
That's fine by me!
That was not his argument. His argument was that there is no point. You only waste time. Basically, builders have received many heavy nerfs in this version. Making it almost unplayable for them. You can build a base, yes. But instead of being a heavy fortified fortress, it would be a paper castle, that you would have to be watching over 24/7.Agreed. You can still build big bases in A17, you just have to dedicate a section of it to defense only.I am curious how large everyone's base builds are now.
