Hi Sphere. Popup error message on opening Mod Launcher, then waits 2-3 minutes and launcher finally opens:



Also, I can no longer select a version to download directly from Steam, the box is empty. Under launcher version, it also says that "DATABASE IS NOT FOUND". Image Link.

The database contains all the information, so the failure is pretty catastrophic to the mod launcher.

Looks like you timed out your github connection.

 
The issue was resolved by simply restarting my PC. Just so you know; that error popped up right after I ran Mod Launcher and it the proceeded to update with the new WOTW mod added and restarted hence that popup. Once PC was restarted I could then select and download fresh 18.4 stable and WOTW. Certainly wasn't spamming anything cos I was sitting happily eating my sandwich.

Side-note: If people are having issues with WOTW V7 Beta for A18.4 not installing correctly, Dwall won't be able to look at it until tomorrow, it's not an issue with the Mod Launcher

I have been using Vortex for mods in Skyrim SE, Fallout 4 and 7 Days to Die. Several friends want to play Darkness Falls, and are telling me that it needs to be installed with 7D2D Mod Launcher.

I can't find any information on compatibility or conflicts. While I don't mind uninstalling 7Days mods (I only use 6 - 7) I am NOT willing to loose my modded Skyrim and FO4 games by completely uninstalling Vortex.

Can someone offer any guidance on switching from Vortex to Mod Launcher? Thanks!

I've used Vortex for various games since early beta while also using Sphere's Mod Launcher. Although there is support for Vortex with 7 Days to Die it is better supported with the Mod Launcher including separate folders for mods including Darkness Falls and savefiles, it can manage installed modlets too. Using the Mod Launcher and keep Vortex won't cause issues with other games. If you intend to switch over it's best if you do this fresh, so, for example, use the Mod Launcher for Darkness Falls and it'll manage everything. Then if you wish to continue using Vortex for modded vanilla you can do that. Note that if you modded vanilla it is important for the Mod Launcher that you either copy a fresh-vanilla 7DTD or you can enter your Steam credentials and it'll do that for you.

 
Why does the launcher throw my "screensafe" windows defender thing everytime i go to install? Is this a usual thing for the launcher to conflict with defender?

The mod launcher can download things from the internet, so anti-virus and firewall software seems to get upset at it fairly often. However, as per what it's supposed to do, it is expected behaviour.

Its been under my sole maintainership since release, and is about 3 years old, with no reports of any untowards things happening to its users.

 
New Update: 2.1.16

- Fixed Enabled / Disabled Modlets from being reset from user preference

- Improved error handling for SharpSVN.dll error

- Fixed incorrect log setting ( 7DaysToDie_Data\output_log.txt should work)

 
I'm trying to load the Darkness Falls mod and it's just not working. I keep getting errors when the game starts. I'll post 2 screenshots; 1 screenshot of the mod launcher, 1 screenshot of the errors I get when the game loads.

What is going wrong?

If I don't use direct download then the syncing won't complete at all. I've waited for hours.

What is going wrong?

Darkness Falls isn't set up correctly for a Direct Download. Let's uncheck that and see if we can troubleshoot the other issue.

Can you try to Pre-Sync again without Direct Download selected, then go to View -> Log Files, then click on Upload Log file. Come back with the pastebin.com link it gives you and I'll take a look at it.

 
Darkness Falls isn't set up correctly for a Direct Download. Let's uncheck that and see if we can troubleshoot the other issue.

I think you are getting the database, as you would not be able to see the listing in the mod launcher if that failed.

Thank you for the log. Unfortunately, it does not show me the issue. Have you tried to click on Disable SSL and see if that helped? You may need to restart the mod launcher.

I have tried now and sorry, it did not make any difference.

I've installed it manually now and it's working :) . The mod launcher was working fine for my friends, just not for me, I'm sorry.

I think I'm running in to the same issues Seniae had with Darkness Falls. I was trying to load up the Experimental branch fresh copy and it's timing out on me. The log doesn't seem to be much help in this case. I tried your SSL hint but that didn't have any affect.

I notice it does create the temp directory with 641 bytes and 5 files in it but that seems to be as far as it gets.

Re-Attempting...

and it loops

I was able to get it going by downloading manually from github, maybe the problems are on the github end?

Github or Gitlab? Most of the reports I get from corrupted data like above is coming from gitlab. They seem to have an inconsistent connection

 
oops very sorry that was a brain fart, not github. it is gitlab, through the launcher (not working) and manually downloading from his repository (working, dls 4gb in less than a min) https://gitlab.com/KhaineGB/dfexperimentala18client
No worries.

I tried to import the location into my bitbucket account, and it times out. I tried to use github desktop to clone it, and it's timing out. Web-download works.

Seems like gitlab is having trouble with git. Ironic.

I have this warning when launching the latest version of experimental. On the regular stable version csharp.dll library has compiled normally...any idea what is going on there?

Darkness Falls is a pre-built mod, so adding in modlets that require building won't work well with it.

 
that's all vanilla darkness falls stuff nothing extra. but i think it might be a problem downloading the mod externally. thanks for the info
