Thank you TFP

Apparently I need to thank TFP for making it impossible for me to play their game. I am playing Afterlife overhaul which requires version 1.3 and in their wisdom have decided to remove that option from the betas list in steam. Why do I play afterlife rahter than vanilla, in my opinion it is more enjoyable, harder and removes trader quests from the game (which have not been worth doing since TFP "reworke" loot and rewards to slow progression rather than adding new survival mechanics or complexity to the game instead)

I figure this will get me forum banned again for daring to critizice the developers like it did when I complained about the quest reworks long ago.

There is not a software product in the whole Universe that supports unofficial mods right after an official update.

Afterlife is an awesome one, as many of the others, but as original code changes, people who create mods have to give their thing to make it work on the new one, properly for you guys, no need for a rant, it will work, it will be even better. Give them time. ;)

Nah, that shouldn't get you even a warning; talking of mod actions might - you're welcome to criticise.

Afterlife looks like a nice overhaul, watched some youtubers play it. Dunno why it wouldn't support 1.4 though, that's still available? Also no idea what it'd cost TFP to keep another beta up if needed, might not be that big a deal - in case there's a breaking change; but I'd think it's mainly up to Afterlife to get updated to match what's actually out there.

They only ever leave the latest version of each major update once a new major version comes out. If you are needing a specific version why don't you already have it? Makes sense to make a copy of it so you don't have to worry about losing it.

People really will complain and blame TFP for anything. TFP didn't make it impossible for you to play their game. They give the option of like 15 versions of the game, not their fault the mod you wanna play is apparently locked to an odd version. Maybe ask the modders why they decided to stick to 1.3? Will the mod just not work on 1.4?

It is not TFP's responsibility to make sure their updates are compatible with mods, it's vice versa. Mod creators are responsible for making sure their mods are compatible for whichever version of the game they want it to be compatible with. The creator of Afterlife will just have to update their mod for 1.4.

I just did it right after reading the post, about 2 min before posting. just to see if it was there.
I suspect your Steam will eventually update and remove it.

I figured it out the hard way. Curiosity killed the mod just now. Since I play offline it was probably in the cache,
I selected to download v 1.3 it to refresh my 1.3 and got V2.2 b3. so yeah. well at least I can still play Rebirth. its 1.2
which I archived before updating.

I have basically been switching between Afterlife Rebirth Foresaken Trail and testing the new stables as they came out.

Although they limit the choices in Steam to the latest version of each major version, does the method mentioned here still work for the newer versions? It might not be as easy as from Steam, but if it works, then you can still get 1.3 again if you want. Just be sure you save a copy of it so you don't have to download it again.

As far as what is shown in Steam, there's probably a reason for limiting it. Steam may have some rules about how many are shown there or there may be some limit to space that is available or there may be a certain cost for the amount of space used or something else. It could also just be that it's easier to keep only the latest versions up or that they don't want the earlier versions that had bugs or whatever else that were fixed in the later version of each major version.

Not for me, I just tried it would not connect. Did a quick search, on steam someone advised using a vpn or
parallel of wifi. I will just wait. It was the update for the gore change. At least I still have the others. That was
the only one that I did not archive. No prob.

You are criticizing because a game developer hasn't made an old version of the game available to you?

Yeah, this isn't on TFP, this is on the mod maker. TFP are full supporters of the modding community, but it is NOT their responsibility to ensure compatibility. Talk to the mod author if that version is not available...
