That is definitely something that would be difficult to adjust for.
Since I never thought of this game as having enough filler content to satisfy
a 40 person server, I was originally thinking along the line of single player
or small coop. Because from everything I have read, when people write about
using it in an extended format. This wouldn't seem to be something to hold their
interest.
Removing this scenario from the conversation, as the game is now, what do 40 player
servers do now as main game play, and what do they do when they complete a map?
Because even without this as an option the constants of player volume, and limited
area are still there. What kind of content makes up the deficit.
This is more of an alternate or additional mode, like the game modes that use to exist
in parallel with Vanilla, not an overhaul or a game rewrite. I'd leave that thought
process up to TFP.
Some thoughts, a custom map, that allows for multiple individual city defenses on their
own terms. If the groups are amicable enough they could form their own RPG hierarchy
and work together once a city was reclaimed, and protect it together from the hordes.
Or form their own trade.
For a small volume 8 or less, it could work. But for that amount, no matter what is added
or done adjusted or changed it has been overrun quickly, every time, every alpha. The main
thought was the recurring protection of an area or city or town vs a single location.
But I got good input, and I saved the page for reference. I started working on the ref you
gave regarding, world spawn. Started adapting my Poptops, unless something major changes in the
entities and spawning. I will be able to post a mod for 2.0. Thanks
