Suggestion to Bring Corpse Blocks back

Now that Sanbox Mode is a new awesome thing .... why not re-visit Corpse blocks being officially returned to the game?

It should be a new sandbox option. After 3.0 it is not possible to mod them into the game anymore so now it should be officially returned as a sandbox option.

I would just be happy to do a quick chopping up of zombies but I thibk more gore blocks for decor and the sides of the road and stuff would be cool
 
that would ruin the few optimizations they've done ... any new blocks would require more resources since you'd just be adding dozens of voxels to render (possibly hundreds).
i would make the compromise of having the zombie corpses disintegrate into choppable gore piles (like the existing ones) but they generate a smell if we don't clear them, thus summoning more zombies and possible screamers and the like (kind of like the animal corpses do now)
 
Um i have been using them for years in my games ... i noticed no performance drop. Also ... the feature should be an option ... the Sandbox mode has lots of options that would kill FPS (max video quality with max spawns) but it is your choice . Corpse blocks were a feature, is in multiple mods, and requires very little effort. It was literally still working after all these years but stopped with v3.0

It should be added to Sandbox options. Fun pimps should do it. It would make for great steams ... content farming is important

It would be neat if they returned in some form and brought 'horde' back into the game :/
In my opinion, having zombies crawling ontop of their corpses and scaling walls should be the primary concern on horde nights. Not bulletsponge zombies with superman powers in rainbowcolors and zombies smart enough to use explosives.

It was also strangly cathargic to go out with an axe the day after a hordenight to cleanup.
(and gave lots of bones to cook glue on! \o/ )
 
Is it not enough that they climb atop and over each other? I've had them stack so high, they came over a vendor's fence. I thought, "What are you doing in here?" Then, "Okay. What are you all doing in here?"

Isn't that the World War Z effect for which people are asking? Static gore blocks (that can't fight back and would probably look like crap) don't seem quite as interesting to me.
 
The problm is that mods do not work anymore for Corpse Blocks, they changed the .xml function. Mods cannot do it unless someone brings them back trough more than just .xml. This is what 3.0 changed.

The lag is meaningless since it would be a sandbox option. I have been using them for years - no real performance issues.
The Zombies can climb higher than just thier natural stacking.
Those of you who remember Corpse Blocks remember they added good elements - which is now possible impossible to re-create.

The Fun Pimps changed the programming but they should bring them back officially. Also with mods you could have made zombies despawn into anything ... I feel like most of this game is now catering to content farming youtubers .... this would lead to some idiotic videos if zombies despawned into steel cubes for example ....

I am going to push this until I find another way - corpse blocks are THAT important. I have never stopped playing this game with corpse blocks since the moment they removed them. This game without corpse blocks is empty ... each zombie is forgotten ... but corpse blocks literally make tiny momunments to your past battles. It changed the landscape ... makes everything feel more unique.

If you never played with Corpse Blocks you just do not understand :P

I’m with you brotha! I’ve been advocating for it as an option as well in the developer chat. They’ve never outright said “that’s impossible!” or “never again!” So there’s still a chance— and not just a Floyd Christmas chance either lol.

The gore blocks were not really removed due to lag since they were just terrain blocks and not entities. They were primarily removed due to their ugliness and the fact that terrain blocks and crafted blocks have never visually played well with each other. As a sandbox option they would be perfect. I wholeheartedly agree and I’ll keep pushing for it too. 😀
 
there are many mods available on nexus that do exactly what you want. I am not really sure what you are talking about when you say it has been removed.

also, double posting is likely to make people not want to help you. post once, wait for replies. don't be an idiot and make multiple posts in different topics regarding the same issue, it just makes you look like an ■■■■■■■

1 : I have been talking to some of those modders also ... they are not working anymore. The Fun Pimps changed the code and corpse blocks do not work anymore.

2 : I am going to spread this as many ways as possbile because after 12 years and 3800 hours in this game I cannot continue without corpse blocks.

I am hoping this gets traction because this update is tailor made for the return of corpse blocks. Sandbox = play how you want ... and I want corpse blocks.

There is just no reason not to make it an option.

I really want a dev to respond to this ... maybe it was a mistake ... maybe they overlooked it ... i dunno.
 
so just to clarify my understanding:

1. prior to 3.0 gore block mods worked as intended
2. since 3.0 gore block mods do not work as intended
3. looking at the .xml confirms that portion is still present
4. conclusion: either they removed the gore blocks from the assets, or they removed the code responsible for linking the assets via .xml, or both

Does that cover it?

If so, elite modders who are familiar with Harmony and Unity assets should be able to mod it back in without too much effort, you just have to convince one of them to take the time to do it.

Or convince BI that it is worthwhile.

I do agree that removing anything from the game to make it playable on console is the wrong approach, and that the video and spawning options you mention are much more likely to cause FPS drops than what seems to be a relatively simple gore block.

I also agree that a dev should respond.
 
Yes, i am sure that you can mod them back in with more addvanced mods but my experience with modding this game has all been text editting the .xml files ... it is hassle. But I am hopeful.

That is why I started a post in the mod section.

I am going to push this as much as I can ... i seriously play this game too much and I have been playing it for a long long time. 12 years and +3,800 hours of single player.
