I've been trying to think of a way to make it to where looting wasn't so superior than crafting. As a disclaimer I will say that I don't want one way or the other to be better and would prefer them to be on equal grounds. Here are some suggestions I've thought of that may help.
1. Make it to where you can craft T6 items but in order for you to craft them you will have to find the parts needed to craft them. Tiers 1-5 the parts aren't needed to craft and are only required for T6. This way you can craft regular stuff but to get the highest quality stuff you will have to find parts that have been machine crafted to a precise degree. Something that we could never reach with the type of machinery we have access to.
2. Make it to where you only have a chance to find T6 items in the end box of the dungeons. That way we aren't finding T6 items in trash cans or desks. This will cut down on the number of T6 items that are found plus still give people the drive to go out looting. This could be an addition to #1 in that if the chest doesn't contain a T6 item it will contain parts instead. Lucky Looter can play a part in helping to determine if you will get an item or parts to craft an item.
3. Give traders special quests that you can do once every time they resupply their goods or once after each horde night. You can also only do one of these quests in total, not one per trader. This special quest will be harder than the others but will reward a T6 item. This quest will only be available after you have unlocked all the tiers of quests though. This way you won't be able to do it the first day and get a T6 item at the start.
I know I have probably over looked many different aspects that you fine folks will have thought of and I look forward to hearing your suggestions as well.
