Stuck at either "Receiving and Loading..." or "Creating player..."

I'm joining at my friend's PREGEN10K server, I was able to join successfully these past few days but now my game starts getting stuck on loading. I was able to move forward after "receiving and loading..." but now I'm stuck at "creating player..." I tried all the fix I have found in the internet but still fail to join

Did you wipe old saves? Yes (on my end)

Did you try reinstalling? Yes 

Did you validate your files? Yes

Did you try restarting your computer? Yes 
Have your friend tried deleting your player save file on his end? Yes

The error relates to the deco read function, which I haven't seen before.  I see you don't have mods installed but any chance your friend does?  If you can get a copy of their log from a day when you try joining their game, that could prove useful.
