Does anyone know if there are plans to have a campaign mode in single player with a storyline and have an ending 🤔

I'm new to this game as just a couple of weeks,  have only played single player to find out the mechanics of the game, in multi player do other players attack your base /loot your gear etc ?

You can play this game together with friends, either in p2p mode or with a dedicated server (there are companies who rent full game servers, but you could also rent a bare metal server and host your own dedicated server on it). In this mode most people play co-op I would assume. p2p means you need good internet uplink speed and a better than average machine to host the game.

And then there are open servers (you will see a list first thing when clicking on the multiplayer option) with all kinds of rules, some only PvE, some PvP.

Depends on what type of community or people you want to play with. If you don't want random strangers joining your game and trying to kill you, I'd either hold off on hosting a public game or try finding people to play with who are more into the PvE thing where you fight the dead and live amongst each other.

I had a few players join my game on the old console version a few years back, where they try killing me and destroying my bedroll lol. For this very reason, it's why I play solo unless I find a nice group of people to play with who aren't into the whole PvP thing.

With that said, it's up to you really, but keep in mind if you end up joining a random person's game, they may be hostile towards newcomers or they may be the friendly type. You can always set up a private multiplayer game with a password that only players with the password can join. If you don't care about that and people try killing you and you like the whole PvP thing then go for it, whatever floats your boat. 😉
