I have played 7 days to die off and on for about 12+years. My group goes back to it once a year for a huge playthrough and sometimes twice a year depending on the changes that come to the game.
My group plays a more hardcore version of the game where zombies are stronger and more spongy and we also play with a very low loot level so every arrow / bullet is that much more valuable and going loud and proud early is a easy way to get yourself killed. We thoroughly enjoy stealth build gameplay and loved 1.0 for stealth. They toned it back but... I think it's too far now since even in 1.0 triggers still made it kind of useless. Now lets talk triggers.....
I understand some of the reasons why they were implemented, but I hate them. There is nothing more annoying than clearing a building and then having something spawn from where you just came from. It's one of the most annoying and frustrating things.
My idea:
I think that there should be a background mechanic that determines if a trigger happens or at least have the ability to reduce the number of zombies that spawn due to a trigger or event.
If you successfully stealth a mission this new mechanic would maybe eliminate entirely or at least reduce the number of spawning zombies.
The alternate would be true as well that if you are clearing and wake up all the zombies you would gain heat or some other term used for the new mechanic.
Built in triggers or events would NOT affect this number.
You could use this new mechanic / term, or you could even use the already built in heat generation to affect this number. If a bunch of people are shooting off unsilenced weapons around the building, you are looking to clear this could affect the number of triggered zombies that spawn in the building.
This becomes more difficult with more players especially those that don't have points in stealth.
This new mechanic helping reduce the number of zombies that spawn could make stealth more rewarding and if you want to go loud for a larger challenge you still could.
