Spawning first time together

Hi all,

a little idea for cooperate gameplay.

Adding an option to spawn together, so you dont have to search for eachother.

Searching is nice but sometimes it would be more nice just to start together.

Technical the following player will spawn at the same location or very close to the host.

You could go one step deeper and say you can make n groups and you can select a group where you want to spawn.

This spawning will only be working when joining the first time or/and maybe the firt n minutes.

How do you guys like this idea?

I like that everyone spawns far away from each other. It leads to different traders in the starter quests, discussions of what they were around when they spawned, what cool POIs they can make and share, ect.

 
As an idea, it's nice. You would need a way to premake the groups, or at least have a "pick your spawn point" dialog in the first login. Wouldn't oppose at face value.

If you want to edit it in into your friendly peer-to-peer game, you can quite easily. You can edit the spawnpoints.xml of your world, remove all entries but one and you should be spawning there. (For my linux it's under share/Steam/steamapps/common/7 Days to Die/Data/Worlds/<worldName>

I was thinking of it as an additional option. Not to replace the old one. It can be very interesting to spawn in different location - like you said.

 
I would see this as an enhancement to the existing options, where you can choose to select the first spawn point at the start (or any of the spawn points) or random. This way we can have many spawn points written, but decide what you want.

 
yes you can set the amount of spawn point and choose a number before join. optional maybe only chooseable for the first time or until day x in game is reached or until x realtime minutes are over.

 
The other question is why people not simply teleport to their friend if they play local/as admin
Because if the game wanted us to spawn on top of each other, we would. It literally takes around 10 - 20 minutes to meet up with people on the map?....

The other option to add n numbers where you can choose your random start location is some additional idead.

For example n=4

The game create for each n a starting location (maybe with and minimum distance to all) and the player can use at first start only (or usable only firt x minutes etc.). This option would be fine for group pvp. Each team picks their number etc.

You can since A17 allready set own spawnpoints on RWG maps

 
It should be spawnpoints.xml, just like for Navezgane.

One of the Big Deal features is that once the world is generated it works exactly as Navezgane.

You have the one game mode, the generated map, and an adjustable number of other players that can join.

No more separate special snowflake code bases.

This is a big yes. Please make players spawn next to each other upon starting new map. It’s so crap that we start a billion miles away and have to run to each other and most of the time die few times in the process and spawn even further away
