PC Some general questions

Just some thing I'd like to figure out before starting a new server on 1.0

- What is the biggest map size now? 10k? Can you go bigger and if so, will it work properly?

- Is it possible to let the game spawn in more Z's in the world?  I dont mean the hordes or the wandering hordes or the PIO's , just the general biomes..?

- I learned that lootwise it is best to make a hordebase/fight the hordes in the wasteland biome for the gamestage increase, so if I am correct ;   best place would be within the highest difficulty POI "area' in the wasteland?

10K using the base game. There is teragon a 3rd party map generator that let´s you make bigger ones up to 16K i think.  But i don´t know if it will get updated to 1.0. Wouldn´t use bigger than 10K if you only have 16GB of RAM.

Yes, you can adjust the spawn rate in the xml files. I don´t know wich one, best ask that in the mod section of the forum. There used to be mods for that, we will have to wait and see if someone makes those for 1.0 aswell.

Yes, T5 Poi in the wasteland should get you the best loot. Don´t get used to it though, at some point they will add radiation to the wasteland and the gear for that will propably be unlocked pretty late in game.

<biome name="pine_forest">     """do for each Biome, and or day and night, and or which group in entitiesgroup you prefer"""
        <spawn maxcount="1" respawndelay="2.9" time="Day"

Create a test small world. change the maxcount but don't go nuts. Hit f8 to keep track of Fps. Go walkabout and see sow often you see them in the wilderness, then test in city street. Unless they reincorporate the CityBiome, wilderness count rolls over to city.

Respawndelay depending on how long your day is, and what you want to accomplish, set at a .?  Example 120 min day respawndelay = .01 is approx 1 minute 20

seconds between respawn after kill, so start low and find your game tolerance point, don't just change it to 10 , sounds fun at first but you need to balance it out, or you will skyrocket your levels, and basically be fighting an army of undead, until the next blood moon and in the city possibly tank your FPS to 🐌 speed.  Unless you are doing a speed run of sorts

Test until you find your happy place.

It was already updated for 1.0.  😁

And yes, it can go up to 16k, which seems to be the max the game allows.  However, 16k is very slow to generate.  At this time, it is recommended to only go up to 15k unless you don't mind the wait.

Thanks, looks interesting.  I assume it's also possible to keep it all vanilla and just increase mapsize? Or will there be mapchanges because it generates 'differently' or something?

It will definitely be different.  We (mainly Pille, but I might help with it) are planning to add a default preset that is designed to make a map as similar to RWG as possible (with traders in their own biomes and no large towns in forest and so on) for people who want a vanilla experience but with larger maps or a few extra features.  But generally speaking, Teragon maps will look different from RWG.  It offers a LOT of customization options, so you can get all kinds of things.  A mega city, islands, random sized and placed craters, real rivers rather than stamps, etc.  But because of all those options, it takes effort and time to learn to use it if you want to do more than just change seeds on a default preset.

You can see screenshots in the official post in the Mods > Tools forum.

Ok thanks, looks like a very useful tool.  I however run vanilla servers, just aside of game enhancing mods like a thirst/food bar hud etc, so I will wait untill there's the vanilla increase option.    I will def use it if I ever go for a different layout.  👍

As a note, it's just a different map.  You can do it without any mods other than ones you are using, no custom POI, etc. (you just disable Teragon's custom POI and bridges).  So it would still really be a vanilla game, but a non-vanilla map.  Not sure what you're users think of that, though.  :)

I can definitely understand wanting it to be fully vanilla, though.
