PC Smoke stack

I wanted to collapse the stacks at the factory for the iron... Only problem is I have everything cleared out, 5 blocks high, and the damn thing just hovers over the ground... I've tried adding to the sides, frames, torches, etc and nothing... I'll attach a picture later, but how is this possible?

 
Yeah, I did the same thing. I'm told that if you go up top and remove the rubbish bags, the tower will drop - might be worth making a stack of wood frames to get up there, so you don't fall with the tower. Hope it works for you.

Similar thing.

Happened to me on ps4, I stacked about 30 wood frames. I fell and survived, so I take out the bottom one to let them fall. I didn't want to climb back up, well they glitched out. So I went up a few to see if they would fall if I take another one out. The few below the frame I removed few but the above didn't.
