PC Showerthoughts... Your idea of the END GAME

Is there even an end game?

I mean, you level up, you gather materials, build things, zombies knock down things, you rebuild things, rinse repeat.

So if they balanced and fixed bugs of this A17, you would be fine this being the final version?

Serious question.

I'd just be happy with increasingly difficult challenges on the map. Right now, you encounter pretty much the same stuff regardless of where you are in the map. I don't think that's really possible right now with the sandbox design of the game though. Maybe one day with the game has better mod support and things like custom maps happen. Empyrion comes to mind because there are tools available to create procedurally generated maps.

I think it's sufficient for the game to be open ended. You just quit when you're satisfied.

If we wanted more content, it could take the form of insanely OP bosses which you do something to summon when you want a challenge. Not necessary though.

Or once you reach a certain stage the game goes into a higher mode permanently (running zombies etc)

My personal preference would be a of a unwinnable game that eventually concludes with your complete destruction. There are more and more hordes coming to your base. At some point something triggers the ''end game event''. The game switches to ''endless night mode'' where your death becomes permanent. An endless torrent of zombie that would never stop rushes your base until you die. Then you have a score board and you get points for how long you lasted. Now that would be a blast.
i like this idea. even more than mine.

my picture of the endgame was to reach gs 500 (or something atrocious) and survive a blood moon horde. time stops and the blood moon doesnt end until all zombies in that wave are destroyed. if the horde at gamestage 1000 doesnt kill you then there really isnt much left for you this game. but, take out the horde, and the game starts you a new world on the next harder difficulty with some sort of reward (a modified golden stone axe or something. mostly symbolic but also sort of useful to start).

Just harder things to do, purple guns and a strong base should just be the start. I'd like really dangerous places to explore with just trophies to collect perhaps.

IF there were no "real" end game, I would go with this. Beat a ceirtain challenge/quest/boss, bring back its head or trophy and hang it in your base.

Like it.

Because it's kind of built into the game already: The folks who've been feeding you these quests finally reveal themselves and tell you that you've passed all their tests and invite you to their Utopian world. You find out it's all been a government experiment and you're now transported by a Vaultec representative to the Boston area and.......... Oh, nevermind.
