Servers and Communities should have access to pre releases just like STREAMERS

Grandpa Minion

Scavenger
The main contention I hold concerning the streamers is that I have observed many streams over the weekend, and it seems that a significant number of people who are NOT the streamer have access to version 2.0..

Consequently, it genuinely frustrates me to see these individuals not the streamer having 2.0 at the moment, because when the release occurs, our server community will be eager to interact with the new update and expect napvp to simply activate without having tested the mods, settings and everything else it takes to get the server ready.
Server owners and their communitys did not have the chance to prepare for the new release this weekend while a streamer could permit a Twitch friend to access it. Yeah, thats super frustrating.

so if anyone is listening i have:

SOLUTION
The solution is simple, streamers have a standard of requirement they must meet to be able to obtain it.
There should be a standard set of requirements for servers and their communitys to be able get it to.
....common sense.
that would at least give an opportunity to reward current players and communitys along side of the streamers and their buddys.

The Unstable Experimental that is for testing new features and reporting bugs. Not for live hosting.

The common sense move is to do as they have been. It has proven to be successful for years.

If you ran your server like a real admin would, you would not be updating it until 2.0 goes Stable. Which will give you a full two weeks to update and troubleshoot the mods on a private test server. You also wouldn't be hosting with more than 4-times the supported player count too, so I mean.... COME ON.

Hey, I get it—streamers getting a 3-day head start might feel like they’re getting all the cookies before the rest of us even get to the jar. But honestly, it’s not the worst thing. Those folks build hype, show off the new update, and basically do the advertising for the game. That’s exactly what The Fun Pimps want—more players coming in and keeping the community alive.

Running the NAPVP server is no small feat, and I respect the time and effort you put into it. I know you want things to be ready and smooth, and that’s fair. Hopefully, with time, the process will get better for everyone.

And about a few non-streamer friends getting early access—well, it’s a tiny slice of the pie, so it’s not something I lose sleep over.

At the end of the day, I figure you’ve got to pick your battles. We didn’t grow up with participation trophies, so I’m all for focusing on what’s important and letting the small stuff slide. It’s about enjoying the game and the people who play it.

Considering it's experimental and NOT stable, I see no reason why a server needs early access. As SylenThunder stated, experimental is testing and not intended for just playing the game early. I know many people use it that way and many servers choose to do it that way, but that's not the intent for it, so I don't see them making any special considerations for servers to have earlier access to it. Besides, it's only a few days. That's hardly a big deal. If players can't handle not playing the game until stable, then they should expect to have to deal with bugs (including potentially save-breaking bugs), broken mods, and servers who are either not providing access until stable or delayed access while they test things for a few days when experimental drops. If they are unable to handle that, then they shouldn't be playing experimental to begin with.

when you say things like this it just makes me smile:)
because i know you want to kill off multiplayer just as bad as you want bandits to be put in.
Thats ok, also because last i checked you do not have a community full of players who is expecting you to have a server ready for them to play on when it releases.
i have ran one of the most successfull servers in 7d2d the past 10 years funny how "a real admin" actually works in this game.;)

It starts with the branchs, alot of people in multiplayer reguardless of what anyone says will be checking out the new update, downloading it means most of them find it a nuisance to to keep switching back and fourth re downloading from stable to experimental and refuse to do it. In multiplayer its key to keep the community on the same branch so players do not have a hard time locating their friends and servers they play on but of course this is something players who do not play multiplayer think about.

yeah i could give you alot of reasons if your welling to listen.

I've been hosting dedicated servers since 2007. We retired last November. On average we had 22 servers running at any point in time. We had a full community of people playing on all the servers we hosted. I have been Alpha-testing multiplayer software and servers since 1998, and was alpha-testing software for at least a decade prior to that.

I speak from experience. You just pretend to have experience, like your fake gameplay hours.
You pretend to know things, and show ignorance instead.
You artificially inflate numbers and present misleading information to support your opinions like they are facts. And we have abundant proof of this readily available here in this forum, and on Steam.

Your "most successful server" is currently dead, and has an average player count over the past two weeks of less than five players. Before that it only occasionally peaked at 20, with an average of around 10. And that was only for a little bit in the middle of April and May. March was almost as dead as last two weeks have been.

You trade in lies and deceit, and it is kicking you in the ass. You should stop while you're behind, but you keep digging your hole. Once you get shut down too much in a thread, you just go and start another one somewhere else.

I just speak the truth. So you have 3000+ people who logged into your server for maybe three minutes and left. How many of those people actually played for more than 10 hours? For more than 20?

Your assertion that multiplayer communities do not exist in this game is perplexing to me. All one needs to do is visit Battlemetrics and search for the thousands of communities like ours that are present. 7d2d has communities that have contributed to the longevity of this game over the years, regardless of whether people wish to acknowledge that or not.

I know that servermanager. If you dont purge the players it will accumulate playernumbers over multiple seeds forever. Trust me. Grandpa is the type to do just that and present those fake numbers as facts. Again. It must be insecurity. I truly feel for him.

And again, another bully move from GM. I did not say that at all. I in fact said that I hosted servers with multiplayer communities.
You don't even know how to properly poll information from Battlemetrics, so get off your soap box.

I can't believe this is even a topic, streamers weekend has nothing to do with experimental, they are two separate things and needs to be separate.

Since you devs start doing that this are bringing back old players and also selling more copies of the game, and it's just works!

Streamers weekend only last for the weekend then the update its release to the public as experimental, what's the rush? lol
