SciFi themed 7 Days to Die

On a recent thread, Roland made the following comment about AI pathing...

It is a work in progress and it will have benefits not just for this game but for future games involving enemy pathing and AI that TFP plan to do.
I love 7DtD. but also glad that as a dev team you plan to make more games. Once 7DtD is beautiful, bug free and polished, and you start looking to your next project, I'd like to put my request in.

I would love a game very similar to 7DtD but with a post apocalyptic aliens attacked theme and the ability to build vehicles like Empyrion.

The Backstory

In the not too distant future, aliens attacked earth with the intent to colonise it. Humans fought back, and neither side outright won - kind of like the TV series Defiance / Falling Skies

The Landscape

The landscape could be very similar to 7DtD, war torn with lots of crashed spaceship POI's that can be looted for alien tech, converted into bases or destroyed (just like the buildings in 7 Days to Die).

Some parts of the terrain may have started to be terrafromed by the aliens, so maybe we can have biomes with alien fauna and flora, and alien ore underground. All this could be harvestable for various purposes. For example the ore could be used to make alien fuel / power sources. The fauna could be used to create new kinds of medicine / stims. The animals could have unique hide or scales that we can make cool gear out of.

The Enemy

The majority of the aliens could be primitive and only do melee damage, but the tougher ones (the ferals in this instance) could have pulse rifles, sonic grenades, and rail guns, which we could steal and use in addition to the normal human weapons. Maybe every 7th day, the aliens could attack your base like the zombies do.

The Vehicles

The ability to craft ground vehicles and small flying craft like Empyrion would be AMAZING. You already have the voxel engine, and now with the 'alien fuels' it gives us the ability to make hover vehicles and stuff.

Please Fun Pimps. This would be the funnest thing you could pimp.

That's a mighty fine good idea.

Could player ships go beyond the stratosphere? If so, would there be gameplay in space? What would be the scope of the game?

Backstory should be more biased toward an alien occupation, to fuel that proper loneliness and helplessness in an alien infested Earth.

X-Com and Xenonauts comes to mind. Human technology could (and must) advance fueled by desperate research on anything scavenged by the invaders. From ballistic weaponry, to laser, to plasma, to rail guns (which ironically is a comeback to ballistic ammo).

I'm feeling sadistic: like in Project Zomboid, make death inevitable. The player(s) that reach lategame would be properly noticed by the enemy and ultimately squashed by a response team from THE MOTHERSHIP. You can count on the ingenuity of players to fend off as much as possible but you know... resistance is futile.

edit: okay, a more optimistic and wholesome endgame: like in X-Com (both the original and the newer one), the goal is to reach the pinnacle of technology and with it, the knowledge of exactly where to strike to defeat the menace(https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Cydonia and https://xcom.fandom.com/wiki/Temple_Ship_Assault respectively). Player(s) should build the proper spaceship, and bet all-in by attacking the alien whatever to win.

If you add some sort of "creep" like the red weed in War of the Worlds that spreads out from alien hubs and devastates or mutates local flora and fauna and must be killed with fire....so fire would need to be in the game! (see what I did there), then you guys (and gal) all have my endorsement.

I think travel to space would be interesting though not required. You could make the final story area also double as a huge "biome" (the main mothership in space which would be big enough to basically be its own "map" even). But I think at the very least, ability to travel to low-ish altitude mothership "POI's" would be nice.
