PC RWG: majorly confused

OK what is the difference in these 2 ways to start a new world....

a) Pick gameworld type 'Zuhehi Territory', enter a seed name and go.

b) Pick gameworld type 'New Random World', pick size 8192, enter seed name and go.

Both generate a new random world of 8k, but (a) takes 20 seconds to generate and (b) takes ages.

I believe 'Zuhehi Territory' would be a map you previously generated. I've found a few like that myself - the game seems to assign random names and as the maps are saved to disk now that would explain the gen time as the new generated worlds are made from scratch.

Now can anyone explain what the "pregen" maps are? Are they basically random worlds the pimps threw in as an alternative to New Random Gen and Navezgane? Whats the difference between those and a new random gen world?

 
we (the qa team)* created some RWG maps and the ones that had less game breaker issues were chosen...

* - i dont think any were made by devs but could be wrong

these were created for those who:

had/have the AMD issue with creating maps.

dont want to take the time to create an rwg map.

those who just want a decent map for their friends to join quickly without the long download.

those who's computer isnt up to generating rwg maps.

and as already mentioned.... an alternative.

as for choosing the said county name that is on the list... it is an already gen'd map (if you want a new map) you need to make the new selection where you give a game name and seed and designate one of the 2 sizes.

Was wondering that myself. Also what is with the strange names, computer generated? And in the RWG previewer what does XUI Before worldseed and snow, pine forest etc mean? Just curious.

those names are generated during creation and its to stop from revealing the actual seed names (some people dont want to share seed names because of possible griefing and exploits)

or are you talking about something different?

Thanks for that and for making the maps. I've not played much since a17 dropped, but I'm starting toget back into it now.
