PC Robotic Drone feels underwhelming

I know that INT builds are great, especially in the end game.  I still can't help but feel that besides the robotic drone's extra storage, it feels very underwhelming.  You have 5 of 4 mods you can put into it.  The armor feels useless as if you are out there they are going to beat on you and not it. The headlamp is good if you are going out at night but sometimes it moves randomly so you can't make sure it is facing where you want it unless you tell it to stop moving.  Medical mod is great if you are taking damage but even in this last 1.0 experimental, we weren't taking a lot of damage as long as we played smart.  Storage mod, not much to say here...it's extra storage.  Morale mod is great for our one person who does all the mining but other than that no one uses it.  I ended up making a tier 6 one for myself and 2 tier 3 ones for 2 of our players who mine and get wood just so they had the Morale and Headlamp mods.  I just feel there is more that could be done with this to make it into something everyone could use.  I have always done INT builds and love it and I remember them having a 9mm gun mod for it at one point(I wanna say when it was introduced A19 or A20) but it never worked and was quickly taken out.  It would be nice to see some more options to make it have more of an impact on the game as it is the BEST thing out of the robotics magazines.

There was essentially a taser gun on the drone during the development versions of A19, but devs removed it because they believed it was too overpowered. I do agree though, as it's a tier three robot it should have a lot of desirability to it, thus some form of weapon should be a mod.

By the time you can craft a drone I find they've lost a lot of their usefulness. I no longer need to scavenge lots of junk. Since they are inspired by Fallout so much I'm surprised the drone isn't early game, like Codsworth. So, I mod the game to give me a tier 1 drone at my first visit to the trader. Re-uniting with a lost companion idea. Much more useful at that stage. But they still annoy the crap out of me, always in my face unless I want something, then they dance round and round.

The drone can be equipped with several storage modifications and this is the only thing I need from it.

Yep, storage mods stack.  Mine has 3 in it.  He has as much space as I do.  Helps carry all those silly magazines that I don't read onsite because I'm bringing them back for my friends, or stacks of ammo I find for weapon types I don't carry with me.

If it wasn't for the extra storage a drone provides I would never use it.  It is the most annoying thing in the game.  It is always trying to get in your face.  It constantly gets in your line of sight when you have Zs coming at you, it gets in your way when you're placing blocks, it gets in your way when you're mining, and it gets in your way when you're trying to nerd pole.  Yes, it positions itself under you so you can't place a block when you jump.  Overall I love this game (although jury is out on v1.0 so far) but it seems like TFP didn't play test the pathing for the drone.  It still needs a lot of work to be useful and not annoying.

It is always trying to get in your face.
It's in part horrible and in part user errors.. for the bit that's "user error" (might not be useful to you, but someone ... ) :) :

It moves to certain spot around you, and stops. It's rather slow to stop, so if it zips "away" from you when you're trying to access it, stand still, don't turn after it; it'll stop. After a sec or two, you can turn after it.

It seems to end up in your line of fire when you backpedal.. turn, sprint, and turn back, it might find a better spot. And you'll cover more distance running forwards, keeping you safer, win win.

Nerd poling... yeah, just burn the damn drone; or make a 3-thick "pole" :D

I hate the drone with a passion. Found 3 in my world so far and sold them all. They just get in the way and take bullets meant for the zombies.

It's no secret folks use the drone for storage so why no get rid of the drone and just give players more inventory space to unlock.  We can already stack the damn pocket mods so let use become walking storage containers with like 200 slots or whatever.

I usually stack three storage mods in the drone, and use the last slot for the medical mod and throw some bandages into it, or first aid kits. The stamina mod is also pretty useful.

The headlight feels weak and redundant, and the armor plating mod is just plain useless.
