PC Requesting Clarity on LCB, Sleeping Bags, and Zombie Spawning

I've been searching google trying to get answers to why zombies are spawning inside a POI I claimed, but some of the information I'm finding is pre-V1, and I'm not sure if I that information is current.

I cleared this small 2 story house POI, and then put an LCB down, and a sleeping bag on the upper floor. I chose a small house so the entire POI would be within the LCB zone. My previous understanding was that the LCB and/or a sleeping bag would prevent the sleeper zombies, and random zombies (but not blood moon zombies) from spawning within the LCB or sleeping bag radius.

I've been playing this save game for a few days, and I've noticed zombies spawning within a few feet of me while standing inside the house, so I'm hoping someone could clear this up for me please?

As I understand it, sleeping bag prevents Sleeper Zombies and Biome Zombies from respawning, but has a quite small area.  LCB will prevent Sleeper Zombies from respawning, but not Biome Zombies.  And if you missed any sleepers/sleeper zones when clearing the house, those will spawn if you somehow manage to trigger them, even with a sleeping bag/LCB down.

I actually think it might be if you missed any sleepers, all the sleepers will possibly respawn (regardless of sleeping bag/LCB), but I'm not sure of that. it's just what it's sounded like when other people were talking about it.

I haven't tested this myself, so I'm going off what others have said, but as Vaeliorin said, if you miss killing all zombies in the POI, then that's likely the cause of your issue.  Everything needs to be killed and then if you place the LCB and bedroll, you shouldn't see more.

I placed an LCB next to door and accidentally turned off the land claim, but I have also had zombies inside the house when the LCB was on, with no doors broken . . .

Did you make sure to spawn and kill everything in the building before placing the land claim?

Zombies will not spawn on player placed blocks inside the land claim block as well.  Not suggesting you tear everything out, and rebuild.  But that is a surefire way to keep zambs from spawning in your home.

My understanding is that it's not 'player placed' that matters, the game doesn't track where a block came from, it's whether a block is terrain or structure. Terrain blocks are things like dirt, rock, asphalt, crushed stone and topsoil. Structure blocks are pretty much everything else. Zombies only spawn on terrain blocks, except when they have a set POI spawn location. Those can be any block and are set by the POI designer.

You can easily see if something is terrain or structure because terrain blocks are octahedral voxels, and structure blocks are cubes. That's why you get the weird little trench between topsoil and your walls if you build a structure with foundations dug into the ground. The cubic and octahedral voxels never quite line up properly.

So long as you've completely cleared a POI, you shouldn't get spawns so long as you don't have any exposed terrain blocks inside your walls. Note that this works to prevent horde night spawns, random biome spawns and screamers. It does mean having a lawn or an asphalt parking lot inside your fortified compound is a risky proposition, though.
