As you all well know, Steam loves to utterly destroy your install of 7d2d the moment you select a different Alpha/Version from its dropdown, so the only way to handle that is to mark each separate version a "Non-Steam" Game and run it that way.
Even with that dealt with, certain mods have Installers and a rather peculiar "you didn't do it right" mechanic if you swap mods without rerunning the installer again (Sorcery Mod).
I need a way to be able to run 7d2d a21.2 Sorcery 1.942 with Darkness Falls 4.2 and then switch up two minutes later and be on 7d2d v1.1 BlewBarry Farms Orchard (modded) without having to go through a precision neurosurgery of my PC and hope everything went well. Sometimes i don't have internet and the older versions are all i have to play and Steam doesn't want to play nice because of EOS (i need it disabled) and 7d2d doesn't want to play nice because it always wants to run all mods through the %appdata% folder now.
I used to run a18/a19 (i started a18.3) mods more aggressively, merging Sorcery with Undead Legacy and playing various modded servers besides, skipping only Ravenhearst and War3Zuk due to lack of friends asking me to play those with them. Back then of course we could have six directories of 7d2d each with its own mods and it worked beautifully.
i am asking for a way to de-spaghettify the code and make things nice and smooth like they were before the %appdata% switch, however you folks have to do that.
