Just a community heads up. If you are renting a 7D2D server, please note, that there is a high chance that the host you are using has not yet updated their UI to handle the new config files.

That means, if you want to play on the rented server, do not update it to 3.0.
Should you disregard this, and play anyway, you will be playing with stock settings. No increased daytime, no disabled biome progression and so on. Even if you try to change the settings, they will NOT work.

However..

If you host it locally or on your own private dedicated server, you can get it to run 3.0 without any major issues.

Though, I can not tell you if you will lose items in stations or not. That is a pimp issue.

This had me concerned as I had just rented a server yesterday. The config allowed to give a sandbox code even though there were older settings listed. I ignored those setting and just gave the sandbox code and so far that seems to be what I'm getting.
 
I should note I found some server settings that I didn't find in the sandbox settings, like PvP on/off and the party shared XP range, but were in the server's configuration. Maybe I'm blind.
