PC removal of weapon parts hits me badly

weapon parts were one of my favourite aspects of the game. i always thought; these devs are actual geniuses !

of course if im survival the zombie apocalypse and find two of the same weapons, i gonna disassemble them in the night, in the safty of my bunker, first of to clean them, and secondly to assemble the best parts to an actual working tool of surviving.

i felt hurt like a flake of snow when i read this in the patchnews....

i hope we can mod this back in or something ?

EDIT: what botheres me the most are; the devs calling it "TEDIOUS weapon parts system"

im very disappointed whilst being hyped for all the other stuff !

EDIT 2: im realizing more and more that this completed screwed up the experience... i can now simply craft an auger/chainsaw. it was once so exciting to find all those parts to then finally be able to have a chainsaw!

what is even worse is the vehicles part of the thing... we had enginges of different qualities for different performances of machines using an engine. now? didnt craft yet anything using an engine, but its obviously all same performance now...

absolutely disappointed. i dont know how you devs got convinced to remove something so superior.

guess you got fagged by all these forumcriers.

and now im part of those myself

I've already modded them back in, expanded mod slots on weapons and made them mods where essentially the gun doesn't work without them installed. It's not quite the same but eh, close. Haven't released it on the mod forums yet, still sorting out some bugs, but soon.

its just so immersing when you have all your gun parts and can assemble a crappy gun for when you go on a risky quest or use the absolute best of best you have when defending base. just amazing thanks again

 
They should have weapon parts and weapon maintenance (remove repair kits from repairing them and make it to where you have to disassemble them and clean/maintain the parts separately!) it would be cool, but I bet a Moder could do it

Don't worry the endgame of searching for gun parts to progress has been replaced by the search for......drum roll....Bones and Gunpowder! Gameplay!

 
i edited the main post so i just bump this.

were playing this on a server i rent, were having a blast ! the game is so enjoyable despite maybe not the best of performances.

the crafting system seems great, eating 20 boars every hour is a bit less, but were having fun hunting.

chopping trees, now this, my dears, is TEDIOUS !

anyways im working on these xml files to rebalance all to our likings. (cant seem to find a hunger drain multiplier or something alike)

(also i dont find a movement speed multiplier)

under the line were super happy playing this, considering the actual videogame insdustries state, this 7daystodie counts toward the best titles you can play 2018 and probably 2019.

still, missing weapon parts badly, that was like the iconic memory to this title; WEAPON PARTS like in no other game...

I know this was posted only 6 days ago but wondering how the adding weapons parts back to the game is going. It one of the features I miss the most.

Probably going to release it in 1-2 more days. Haven't had too much time to play lately, but mostly just tweaking loot containers/part spawn rates at this point. It works a little differently than the old part system, but it's as close as I could get with sticking to XML only.

More loot variety = looting is more interesting. Weapons + parts that slowly degraded over time plus weapon + part quality mattering more meant always searching for ever-better parts which added to the sense of progression when you found one. Now you get a Q2-3 weapon before day 7 and you're pretty much set with that weapon for a long time...you have mods to find still, but not really sure how that's any different in terms of needing to be lucky. The RNG is still there. I say why not mods and parts, and parts that improve weapons like a higher quality magazine increasing magazine size, or higher quality barrels increasing range/accuracy.

Don't remember what parts scrapped to before because I was usually a pack rat, but now if you can't sell them you can at least get a few mechanical parts out of them.

wtf xD scrap them! now they give mechanical parts! I scrap whole weapons now as low level weapons aren't worth anything anyways.

How ANYONE can argue against weaponparts (especially since the new changes make them even more viable)

Do you REALLY like to have 5 lvl 1 pistols more than 2 pistols where you can change out all the bad and good parts and have a good pistol and one bad one afterwards?

It was fun and I never had problems finding books. I was the gunsmith in the team till they made this update in to a mmo grindfest.

 
Weapon parts were a chore, random one.

Your item was as durable as the weakest part.

It made RNG that much worse for you.

Current implementation of mods is how it should always have been, together with expansion of it in the future, where base item is usable, but nowhere near excelling and you can just.

Mods serve the same purpose as parts plus much more as they allow you actual customization of an item.

And no, "lets have both" would be a bad solution, because mods make parts a redundant feature since they have the exact same purpose, except one allows infinite possibilities and other is locked and unbendable.

 
I miss the old system with finding parts, both for guns and for engines, it was more rewarding to finally be able to assemble a gun, even more fun if it had good stats, now theres guns everywhere to loot, making looting less needing.

Needing to work a just a tiny bit to find a firearm made the earlygame much more fun and added natural feeling of challenge, instead of kill 2000 zombies and learn how to craft a gun.

I too miss them. Apparently a lot of people complained about having a tonne of parts... But what do we have now? A tonne of useless weapons that the traitor wont buy... At least with the parts the traitor would buy them! Now they're just collecting dust!

 
I miss them too. I also missed it when the got rid of gun molds, where we had to make parts.

But, hey look on the bright side... at least now you can dye things "Ridiculous Red", "Obnoxious Orange", "Hulk Greeeeen", and "Blue Man Group, Blue". I really like all the cartoonish colors I can make things....

dont forget color gives damage! So that is a much more deep and intricate system now!

great would've been to add "modules" to the single "weapon parts".

ie; a silencer for a barrel, a red dyed barrel !

ie; a second grip

ie; a dampener for the stock

ie; a firerate-increaser for the gun-parts

there's an unthinkable amount of features you could personalize and dye your weapon with, and get in love and immersed with it.

the gun-books also had to go. i know how to assemble guns irl, but then im supposed not to know ingame?

also please let us attach flashlights with ducttape to ANYTHING, be it a weapon, a shoulder-plate (has yet to be implemented lol) and especially the headgear !

also maybe add some more flashlights as it is something you find in almost every house/car irl.

flashlights with led for a strong white light and maybe oldschool ones as well.

oh and batteries ! and modules for flashlights !

you have the perfect piece of game to go totally crazy on all apocalyptic aspects, instead you remove features to please the audience with lower IQ.

why ?

EDIT: we finally found a shotgun messiah store. we always wanted to find a gunstore and loot that. you know what happened ? we didnt even bother because "i can make better guns anyways, lets get this quest done".

so sad i think you took a great game from me...

The Shotgun Messiah crates have a good chance for finding the mods that make those better guns worthwhile. A purple gun is only better in that it needs less repair and can hold more mods. You literally skipped the new and better gun parts system.
