PC Recipe to Plant a Seed... Really?

So it appears now I can't plant seeds in the ground until I have learned the required recipe and spend points into "Live off the Land".

This is just ridiculous... these restrictions are impacting the enjoyment of the game. Earlier versions never had this nonsense... I could just build stuff as long as I had the required resources... just stupid.

 
You only need the recipe to craft the seeds. You don't need them to plant the seeds. You no longer plant seeds in the ground. You plant them in the new Farm Plots. That might be where you are having your problem.

Ofcourse, how silly of me to think I can just plant a seed in the ground without reading the recipe on how to craft a seed from a seed that is in my inventory. It all makes sense now!

I'm glad I could clarify that for you. The only thing the recipes do is unlock the ability to craft seeds from the crops. You can plant any seeds that you find out in the world without knowing anything. The Farm Plots don't require any recipe or perk points spent to craft and use either.

To be fair, I sure don't know how to take a potato, as in the edible tuber part of a potato plant, and turn it into a "potato seed". I guess I would need a schematic to teach me how that's possible. ;)
