PC Raw Iron (?)

Is this part of Vanilla 1.0, or introduced by a mod? I noticed that I am getting no progress on my Gather Iron challenge in-game. Would this be because the mod, if Raw Iron is indeed from a mod, did not take this into account?

Note: It is possible that this comes from Tam's Needful Things, but I am not a modder (as in mod maker) so I can't be sure, I'm just muddling through.

How are you gathering iron? I never mine it. I tear up cars with a wrench and didn't even know this achievement existed.
