Random Gen Map and Biome Progression

Largest map, generated in a line formation. We start at the bottom forest biome. Then we have the biomes in the following order..

Forest, Know, Wasteland, Desert, and then Burnt forest.

Currently farming blueberries to survive in the snow biome.

How are we supposed to "explore the dessert" when it's a million KMs away through all the other biomes? And what exactly qualifies as "explore the biome"?

Vehicles might come in handy. ;) You chose to generate a large map with biomes stacked atop one another like neopolitian ice cream, so I'd say you just have to live with the consequences in travel time and inconvenience.

That said, I personally find RWG in the latest versions far inferior to A21 but for the clumping vegetation, which looks more natural.

Biome order is determined by the slider percentages when generating a new map. So if you want the desert biome to spawn closer to the forest, then you need to set its slider accordingly.

Which version are you playing? You can do it in any order in the experimental. The traders still give you that special quest to go visit the next trader in the progression. You can just ignore that until you're ready to do it.

I usually stay to 6k maps if I am playing solo to avoid long travel. As of 2.3 EXP (which is not available to console and the Microsoft store) you can unlock the Biome Challenges in any order, meaning you can unlock the Wasteland first if you so choose.

I'm trying to complete the badge for snow biome. It requires me to "explore the desert". The issue is the the dessert is beyond the snow, and the wasteland.

I understand the situation I am in. What I'm trying to do is get the snow badge, to get better loot. But I have to go through snow and wasteland biome to do that.

I just dont want to load up and waste frosty smoothies and atomic smoothies just to make it to the dessert then find out i have to do a million things and die in the dessert because I didn't farm oasis smoothies enough.

What does "explore the desert" actually mean? Its the last step for me to get the badge, but I want to know what exactly it entails.

Can't remember if that was the verbiage, but it's either "Step into desert" or the more likely "Complete the desert badge". You're going to have to survive through the other biomes either way, so I do suggest making a smoothie for each. And for the love of god, don't die, getting your gubbins is going to be a trip and a half :D
(or would be, without the modern spawning options .. anyhoo)
