Quick Swap Intermittently Resetting

I couldn’t find anything talking about this, but I doubt I’m the first or the only one experiencing it. I also tried posting this in the bugs section, but since I’m on PS5, I couldn’t put in the required items to post.

So when I use the quick swap a lot of times, something happens at times where the cycle icon and the specific item in the hot bar that’s supposed to be the swap item just goes away and acts like you never selected a quick swap item. I hope that makes sense.

I guess the best way to explain would be, say I have a shotgun in hand. Then I switch to the wrench. Sometimes it’ll work, but it seems after swapping back and forth a few times, or maybe doing it too fast, causes it to erase the fact that you picked a quick swap item to swap to, and the cycle icon isn’t there. I’m not sure if this is a weird timing thing, like you’re switching to fast back and forth, or what, but it’s definitely annoying as hell and can cause for some less than idea situations in the thick of it.

Has anyone else experienced this?
 
I constantly forget which button is responsible for switching to the previous slot. Therefore, I select the first 4 with the buttons, and the remaining slots with the mouse scroller. And accordingly, I do not encounter such a problem.

Maybe it doesn’t occur on PC? Maybe it’s just a bug on PS5? I don’t know, but I really hope they fix it. I can’t be the only one on PS5 that’s experiencing this.
 
I've got this problem on PC V2.2 and 2.3 experimental. I only use quick swap for things like building and tree harvesting so I don't see it too often. About half the time when I'm swapping between axe and tree seeds the quick swap resets and I have to manually select the item.

It happens all the time for me because I’m always switching between weapons a ton and deploying and picking up my robotic sledge a lot. I think I’ve found a consistent example but I need to verify in a little bit. I’ve been noticing that I get off my vehicle and the swap is gone. I don’t know if that was by design, and I can’t remember in 1.4 or whatever the previous release was before the 2.0 update, but I don’t ever remember this being an issue or something I noticed, which I feel like I definitely would’ve because of how often I swap. Perfect example here too is like, when I’m on my bike or whatever, I usually keep my wrench/ratchet/impact driver on one side, and my crossbow or rifle or whatever on the other side. This way, when I stop to wrench cars, I have my weapon at the ready for swap in case some nosey Z starts moseying on over.
 
I have that on PC as I remember since it was anounced in 1.x. Mostly to always when you enter a vehicle and quit or you enter any menu. The last used tool swap is gone.
 
With how much you get on and off a vehicle while traveling, and even more so with menus, that has to be the dumbest design choice possible if that’s true.
 
I just tested it, and it seems like its entering and then exiting vehicles that I can replicate every time and immediately. The funny thing is, the quick swap cycle logo shows up on whatever you’re holding. So it seems like the system must be there. Menus though, both in game and then paused options and all, I couldn’t replicate it as of now with all the back and forth I did. Which I hope that’s true, because then it’s just one less stupid thing to deal with. I feel like there’s an issue where if you swap between the two you have setup for quick swap, something gets funky and it messes that up as well. But now that I know about the vehicle things I could just not be factoring into my memory.

I’ll have to see how it plays out with everything I know now.
