I somehow missed that A20 has jumped a few revisions since it dropped. Do I need to clean and start a new game each time? I'm relatively new to using the experimental release over the stable.

As long as things are working, you don't have to.
Technically you should because this is a beta test.
It's possible for an update to break the game you're playing.
When you do get around to starting a new game, things that have worked for you now may not work exactly the same way.

I was indeed encountering some errors, glitches whilst loading, and then trying to play 7 Days just a few hours ago completely crashed and restarted my PC.
