Is there something planned for the melee combat besides buffs?

I was very excited about the "power attack" move but it turns out that it didn't add any dynamic to the game. The regular attack was made useless and I exclusively use power attack now.

With the "super-accurate" aiming where you can miss by aiming under an ear, melee is very weak against more than one running opponent (plenty ferals in POIs). No block, no evasive move, no controlling crits with the 2nd attack... Just one power attack!

 
It might just need better balancing, like use a ton of energy and do more substantial damage, but leave you saving it for a hopeful killshot.

 
I hope they add a shield that I can use in my offhand and the ability to wield torches in my offhand as well. The way MC did it was smart (have a special a lot for the offhand) and I think it’s very doable. I hope it may be implemented. But ya never know. Maybe a shield reduces damage by a percentage? Or the ability to wield blocks in the offhand and place them while upgrading them simultaneously with a nail gun! Many options if they added it! When you have the shield equipped it doesn’t do anything, then when you hold the rmb it “blocks” and you can only light attack with it equipped (or they can make it bash which knocks the enemy back) a riot shield would be sweet to have.

But that does still not add much dynamic to combat.

I thought maybe the "stay down" perk will add some reliable protection in tough situations. but it's the weakest of them. Bladed weapons have at least a chance to bleed nearby foes, heavy weapons have a chance of knocking them down, blunt knock back down an enemy that you already knocked down. It's useless against two running enemies. And you don't need it against 1
