PC Quality of life improvements

Hi all,

I've been playing this game since alpha 14. I still remember when i sold my usp-s orion on steam market to buy this game and have never regreted my action. I'm playing 7DTD as we speak and while playing I've got in mind some things that could improve the game:

- add models to more items when dropped. i understand some of them should not benefit from this, but there are many that can be done
- allow reloading weapons when opening crafting menu, inventory or even speaking to the trader. it's like in real life; i can speak with someone and still focus on reloading a bow hahahaha
- inspect action for some tools and weapons perhaps. it would be nice i think
- when hitting something with an axe for example, you can switch to the last milliseconds to the knife and be counted as a knife hit and damage. this could be fixed by not allowing to swap weapons and tools once the hit is fully done.
- THE HOLY LIVE MINIMAP IN THE CORNER OF THE GAME. not much more to explain hahaha :D

That's all i can think of right now. The game have been improving update by update and i'm happy bout it.
Don't knof if this is the place to submit some ideas so that they can reach the devs because it's my first time actually expressing some instead of just thinking about them.

Adding models to items when dropped would potentially cause lag, and would be very abusable in MP, especially for griefers.

There used to be a minimap. They got rid of it. Personally, I'd rather not have it back.

It could be a config option (turn off or on)
Anyway never experienced any lag with those, when i gave to all canned food 3d model for drop

Sure, an option could work.

But imagine having someone come in and drop hundreds or thousands of individual items on the ground, each with a complex model that needs to be rendered. It's the same reason we aren't allowed to pick up/craft things like coffee machines.

Idk, Items vanish after ~min, player will not able to drop enough of stuff in time to cause lags! 🤷‍♂️
 
I believe it's 5 minutes, and it's definitely possible, I've seen it happen in Minecraft. I was getting 1 frame every 5 or 6 seconds (granted, that was from automation I'd set up and then forgot to chunkload part of.)
 
A quality of life change for me would be to make 1 meat = 1 meat.... Why is this even a problem.... Instead of increasing or reducing the amount of meat it takes to make 1 meat, just increase or reduce the availability of it... Now if I have to wrap raw meat in paper so I don't smell, I am left over with an amount that I cannot wrap...so what do I do with it? Throw it away? I can't cook 3 meat.... This was not broken many versions ago...why was it changed?

Agree - for me its also cringe that some meat recipes require more than 1 meat resource where its shouldnt! But in other hand - it will require meat loot/loot from animal reballance

You can't wrap it, but it also doesn't cause any smell. Smell only occurs with 5+ raw meat in your inventory. I agree that it's strange that you can't wrap every piece, though. I've even posted about that myself.

As far as cooking, it hasn't really changed. You used 5 raw meat to make something before and now it's 1 grilled meat, which is made from 5 raw meat. So it's the same amount of raw meat. The difference is that it adds another step of cooking between raw meat and the finished recipe. I don't really know why they added another step like that. It's not a big deal to me. I just set the campfires to grill the meat while I'm gone and then it'll be ready whenever I want to cook more food.
 
I swear I remember many alphas ago 1 raw meat was 1 cooked meat. Then the said they had to rebalance because there was too much food or something along that line. I would have just made animals more rare, but when you get one you get lots of meat. Kind of like real life.

Iirc, the change from "1 meat = 1 meal" to "5 meat = 1 meal" was made to allow for skills to reduce the meat use, harvesting bonuses, and such. With 5 per, you can make a skill that reduces meat waste by 20%, or 1 unit.
